Mrs. Davis moved from Knoxville to the Oak Ridge Retirement Community in 1998. She was a member of Vestal United Methodist Church in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Gus and Rachael Davis; her husband, Fred C. Davis; and by two sisters, Mae Phelps and Georgia Clark. Mrs. Davis is survived by a sister, Kathleen Watson; two nieces, Nancy Cooper and Janice Bowles, both of Atlanta, Ga.; and by three grandnieces and one grandnephew. According to her family, Mrs. Davis touched the lives of many people with her kind and gentle spirit. The funeral was to be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home on Chapman Highway in Knoxville with the Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial was to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville. The family was to receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Grace C. Foust, 90, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at her daughter's home in Clinton. Born Sept. 12, 1913, in Briceville, she was the daughter of Pozy and Martha Jane Baird Cook. She was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Foust, and by a daughter, Billie Sue Foust. Mrs. Foust is survived by two daughters, Joyce Foust Cox and husband, Dale, of Clinton and Bobbie Foust Webber and husband, James Q. Jr., of Chattanooga; her son, Earl Levaughn Foust and wife, Nola Norton, of Candler, N.C.; and by eight grandchildren, J. Alan Cox and wife, Lydia Garrett, of Tallahassee, Fla., Susan Cox Artz and husband, Ray, of Margate, Fla., G. Brian Cox and wife, Kym Desantis, of Fayetteville, Ga., Rebecca Cox Swavely and husband, Brad, of Anderson, S.C., Regina Loy and husband, Steve, of Clinton, James Q. "Jay" Webber III and wife, Julie, of Corsicana, Texas, Christopher E. Foust and wife, Sherry, of Knoxville and Melody Foust Davis and husband, Michael, of Weaverville, N.C. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, Joshua Cox, Jessica Cox and Victoria Grace Cox, all of Tallahassee, Mark Artz and Sara Artz, both of Margate, Amanda Cox, Emily Cox and Brian Cox, all of Fayetteville, Ashley Swavely, Susan Swavely and Alan Swavely, all of Anderson, S.C., Jessica Joyce Webber, Molly Webber and James Quinton Webber IV, all of Corsicana, Benjamin Earl Foust, Aleah Marie Foust, Sydney Brooke Davis and Jackson Michael Davis; two special sisters-in-law, Dinah Cook and Lenis Cook, both of Clinton; a sister, Imogene Hooks of Oliver Springs; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Joe Bridges and the Rev. Larry Pugh officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. at Thursday, Feb. 19, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Delbert W. "Dale" Johnson, 63, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Nov. 9, 1940, he was the son of James Lee and Hattie Jones Johnson, both now deceased. Mr. Johnson was a member of Faith Promise Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed tool and die maker. His family said he enjoyed reading and hiking. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Janet Adams Johnson; his stepmother, Ruby Johnson, of Covington; three sons, Gregory Dale Johnson of Dayton, Nathan Leonard Johnson of Knoxville, and Darren Lee Johnson of Colfax, Calif.; and by two daughters, Pamela Dawn Hulgan and husband, Bob, of Dayton, and Rachel Bethany Grant and husband, Matt, of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by two brothers, Jim Johnson and wife, Denise, of Covington, and Don Johnson of Nashville; three sisters, Shirley Ward and husband, Doug, Martha Pinner and husband, Franklin, and Mary Ward and husband, Jerry, all of Covington; and by four grandchildren, Emerald Dawn Hulgan, Rob Hulgan, Christiana Nichole Johnson and Cole Tyler Grant. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Marijon Johnson, 57, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville. Born Jan. 27, 1947, in Humbolt, she was the daughter of Lewis Nelms and Jessie Lou Rozzell Johnson, both now deceased. She was a nursing assistant at Family Support Services for four years. She worked in the health care field for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her family said she enjoyed swimming, gardening, rowing and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Claire Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Louise Johnson, of Oak Ridge, and by four sisters, Jeanne Bastin of Medina, Fran Jacobson of Coral Springs, Fla., Pat Barshis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kathy DeVan of Sumter, S.C. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Born Feb. 10, 1915, in Jefferson County in Tennessee, she was the daughter of George W. and Essie Miller Currier. She was a charter member of Moran Baptist Church. Her family said she enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harrison B. Jones; a brother, Charles A. Currier; and by three sisters, Ruby Hampton, Irene Currier and Margaret Currier. Mrs. Jones is survived by two brothers, Earl Currier and Robert Currier and wife, Dorothy, all of Clinton; her nephew, Edward Currier, who she raised since 6 weeks old, and his wife, Lynn, of Clinton; three grandnephews David, Michael and Brian. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. John Hazen Marquiss, 79, of Clinton, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at his home after a prolonged illness. Born July 17, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Charles R. Marquiss and Katherine White Marquiss. He graduated from Howe Military Academy and entered the army as a second lieutenant in World War II. He served in Europe and was in the Battle of the Bulge as a paratrooper gaining the rank of first lieutenant. He graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa and attended the University of Michigan Law School. He received a Bachelor of Laws degree from LaSalle University of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Marquiss married Jane Chatten Marquiss in 1947 and had one daughter, Christine Marquiss Ganzer. In 1950, he went to work for Union Carbide in Bishop, Calif. In 1960, he was transferred to Grand Junction, Colo., by Union Carbide and in 1964, he was transferred to the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. His career with the company spanned 34 years. He was active in the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and the Elks Lodge. According to his family, he was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, snow and water skiing. He also flew a small airplane for several years. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Church of God. In addition to his wife and daughter and her husband, Philip Ganzer, Mr. Marquiss is survived by two grandchildren, Justin Ganzer and Katherine Jane Lewis and their spouses, Lori and Ryan. Special friends include the late Edwin Murphy, the late Sherman Kowns, Bill Kowns, the late Russell Dagley, Bob and Sam Bice, Chris Power, Harold Wolfe, Pat Byrne and Chester Johnson. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice. Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Claxton is in charge of arrangements. Clifford Lee Reynolds, 99, of Longview, Texas, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at her home. Born March 29, 1904, in Upshur County in Texas, she was the daughter of John B. and Opelia Abna Gable. According to her family, she was a Baptist and loved to fish and conduct garage sales. Her family said she will always be remembered as a loving mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.E. Reynolds, and by three sons, J.T. Reynolds, Gene Reynolds and Gerald Reynolds. Mrs. Reynolds is survived by three sons, Kenneth Reynolds and Don Reynolds, both of Longview, and David Reynolds of Denton, Texas; two daughters, Mary E. Bates of Atlanta, Ga., and Betty Joe Brewer of Oak Ridge; 17 grandchildren, including Esther Sewell of Oak Ridge, Daniel Brewer of Clinton and Marilyn Jublonski of Waukegan, Ill.; and by several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. A graveside service was to be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Wesley Veazy officiating. Welch Funeral & Memorial Center in Longview is in charge of arrangements. Victoria Lee Rogers, 50, of Clinton, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Jan. 9, 1954, in England, she was the daughter of Bob Hal Evans of Newport and Mary Ann McClain of Clinton. Mrs. Rogers was a licensed practical nurse and had been employed at the Brakebill Nursing Home in Knoxville. In addition to her mother and her stepfather, Alan, and her father, Mrs. Rogers is survived by her son, Robert Lee Phillips, of Spring Lake, N.C.; her grandmother, Allie Stinson, of Oak Ridge; and by two sisters, Mary Lowe and husband, Ken of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Angela McClain, of Oak Ridge. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge or arrangements. Juanita Louise Strong, 71, of Norris, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at her home. Born Sept. 7, 1932, in Earl Park, Ind., she was the daughter of Callie R. and Macy Holbert Phillips. She was a long-time resident of Norris. Prior to retirement, she worked at the former Magnet Mills and retired from Windwood Health Care Center as a nurse's aide. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Strong is survived by her husband, Charles Strong; her daughter, Joan Snoderly and husband, Tim, of Halls; a sister, Willie Maude Rector, of Andersonville; four brothers, E. Lynn Phillips and wife, Ailene, of Powell, Frank Phillips and wife, Judy, of Lilburn, Ga., Kyle R. Phillips and wife, Mary, of Lake City, Robert "Bobby" Phillips and wife, Kay, of Clinton; a grandson, Hunter Snoderly, of Halls; and by several nieces and nephews. Her family said she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all those who loved her. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Donnie Rosenbalm officiating.
