Preceded in death by parents, Camillus & Laura Slone & husband, P.M. Carver. Born October 23, 1923 in Holly Bush, Kentucky. Survivors: daughter, Sandra & husband David Stepp of Clinton; sons, Randy & wife Deanie Carver of Knoxville, Richard Carver of Knoxville; granddaughter,Tonya Stepp of Clinton; sisters, Ida Ingram of Jefferson City, Verbena Thomas of Hindman, KY, Alpha Williams of Hindman, Ky.; brothers, Mason Slone of Jefferson City, Okie Slone of Jefferson City several nieces & nephews. HATMAKER, SHELBY JEAN - age 61, of Lake City, Tn., passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at the St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls. She was a member of Willow Brook Baptist Church in Lake City. She was preceded in death by first husband, Bill Stewart; father, James Carroll,; son- in-law, Chuck Osborne; sister, Gladys Carroll Owens; brothers, Silas John & Burl Carroll. Survivors: husband, Doug Hatmaker of Lake City, Tn; daughter, Mesha Osborne of Clinton; granddaughter, Emily Oborne of Clinton; mother, Barbara Carden Carroll of Clinton; step-daughter, Vickie Cyr & husband, Phillip, of Lake City; step-grandson, Johnathan Cyr of Lake City; sister, Glenda F. Christian & husband, Richard, of Burnside, Ky.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Hatmaker of Lake City; sister-in-law, Patricia Sykes of Lake City; brothers-in-law, Mike Hatmaker & wife, Dana, of Clinton, Kevin Hatmaker & wife, Kristina, of Lake City; special niece, Kay Servies & husband, Ron, of Knoxville; host of other relatives and friends. HEIDLE, WILLIE JEAN - age 86 of the Joyner Community went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 in the Morgan County Lifecare Center. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Halian (Russell) Justice; Sister, Loretta Fallon; brothers, Blaine, Vick, Glen, Eldon, and Arthur Justice. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Lee Heidle; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Mike Cardwell; granddaughter, Carolyn Cardwell; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 26, 2004 from 5-7 pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services will begin at 7 pm with Bro. David Kunsman and Bro. Todd Hardin officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, 11 am in Union Church Cemetery. MALLETT, ALBERT J. - 95, of Oak Ridge died Monday, February 23, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born on February 4, 1909 in Matamoras, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William H. and Martha (Decker) Mallett. He received a Bacherlor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1935 from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania and a Master's of Education degree from Columbia University in New York City in 1937. He also completed courses in engineering at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. In 1940, while employed as a chemistry lab supervisor at Hercules Powder Company he was a consultant for Union Carbide on the S.A.M. project and in 1944 he came to Oak Ridge, Tennessee where he was Technical Supervisor over the Nuclear Division of the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant. he was promoted to Supervisor of nuclear Safety and Engineering in 1947, and again to department Head of that division in 1961. He held that position until his retirement in 1973. He was a consultant for the Nuclear Safety and Engineering Division at Union Carbide's nuclear power station in Portsmouth, Ohio, until the late 1970's. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mrs. Virginia L. (Jones) Mallett; two sons John and Kenneth and a daughter-in-law, Debra Mallett all of Oak Ridge; 3 grandchildren, John, Jr., Christopher, and Lindsey; 3 great-grandchildren, Kylie Carroll, Timothy Mallett, and Chloe Mallett. The family will receive friends at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home from 6-8 Wednesday February 25, 2004 with the funeral immediately following at 8 p.m. A private graveside service is planned for Thursday, February 26, 2004.
