Bass, 82, of Oak Ridge, Brenda Joyce Hudson Boyd, 61, of Clinton, Laura Edna Parrish, 87, of Oliver Springs, Frances M. Bass, 81, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Her husband, William R. Bass, a former Pine Valley pharmacist, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004. Mrs. Bass was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church and was also a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed, her family said. Born Oct. 1, in Mounds City, Ill., she was the daughter of Harry Blanckertz and Mary Harris. Mrs. Bass is survived by her son, Gary Bass and his wife, Linda, of Kingston Springs; her daughter, Susan Higgins of Oak Ridge; her three grandchildren, Kaci Higgins, Kori Higgins and Matthew Bass. The funeral for both Mrs. Bass and her husband will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in t he chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Bass, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Windwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. Born April 30, 1922, in Elk Valley, he was the son of Reuel Norton and Ella Trammell Bass. Mr. Bass was a pharmacist at the old Pine Valley Pharmacy on New York Avenue. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, a Baptist and a member of the Scottish rite. His wife of 56 years, Frances Mary Blanckertz Bass, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. Mr. Bass is survived by his son, Gary Bass and his wife, Linda, of Kingston Springs; his daughter, Susan Higgins of Oak Ridge; his three grandchildren, Kaci Higgins, Kori Higgins and Matthew Bass; and his sister, Betty Ann Todd of Medina. Born Nov. 5, 1942, in Kingsport, she was the daughter of Walter Neal and Anna K. Luster Hudson. Mrs. Boyd was a member of the Moran Baptist Church on Marlow Circle in the Dossett area. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly, her family said. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Lyle Hudson, Gene Hudson and Jenell Begley. Mrs. Boyd is survived by her husband, James Franklin Boyd of Clinton; her son, Mark Boyd of Marlow; her daughter, Stephanie Hammett and her husband, Chuck, of Oliver Springs; her grandsons, Jonathan Boyd, Matthew Boyd, Dalton Hammett and Garrett Hammett; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Sieber and the Rev. Kenny Sharp officiating. graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway. An online register book will be available at www.martinoakridgefuneralhome.com Laura Edna Parrish, 87, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at the Briarcliff Health Care Center. Born Sept. 17, 1917, in Huntsville, she was the daughter of William Thomas and Kizzie Hutson Jones. She has lived in the Oliver Springs area for over 49 years and was a 40-year member of Oliver Springs United Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a nurse's aide at the former Eastern State Psychiatric Hospital in Knoxville, now called Lakeshore Mental Health Institute. She was also a loving mother, devoted to her children and always concerned about their well being, her family said. Her talents were many and she cared deeply for all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Loy E. Parrish, her grandson, Darrell Whitus, and nine brothers and sisters, Essie, Oby, Perry, Ida, Betty, Clifford, Louisa, Hattie and Julie. Mrs. Parrish is survived by three daughters, Judie Parrish Whitus and her husband, Eddie, and Linda Parrish Hunsaker and her husband, Russell, all of Oliver Springs, and Rachel Parrish Ohtani and her husband, Taketo, of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and her son, Thomas J. Parrish and his wife, Linda, of Oliver Springs. She is also survived by her grandchildren, David Whitus, Lisa Whitus, Tammy Hunsaker Fairchild, Aiko Ohtani Jilek, Tommy Parrish, April Green, Shawn Parrish Ohtani and Russ Hunsaker II; her great-grandchildren, Misty Hannah, Christopher Whitus, Michael Smith, Cynthia Rachel Jilek, Kinsington Mary Jilek and Laura Cheyene Hunter; her great-great-grandchildren, Kayla Hannah and Cameron Hannah; her sister-in-law, Helen Parrish of Wesley Chapel; and by several friends and extended family members. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in the chapel at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Jones-Jeffers Cemetery in Huntsville, Scott County.
