From The Oak Ridger 5 Oct 2004 Cleve Braden, 74, of Briceville, Vera Cassat Hall, 90, of Hartsville, formerly of Norris, William Bass, 82, of Oak Ridge, Cleve Braden, 74, of Briceville, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was a member of Indian Bluff Baptist Church in Briceville and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his family said. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie June Patton Braden; two sons, Randy Braden and Stanley Braden; and two sisters and two brothers, Charlotte Braden, Blanche Smith, Charles Edd Braden and Lester Braden. Mr. Braden is survived by his daughter, Melissa Phillips and husband, Bruce, of Oak Ridge; his sons, Benny Braden and wife, Carolyn, Gary Braden and wife, Shirley, all of Briceville, and Scott Braden and wife, Karen, of Oliver Springs; and his grandchildren, Adam Burchfield, B.J. Phillips, Josh Phillips, Benny Braden, Terence Braden, Thomas Braden, Allen Braden, Jessica Braden, Chris Braden and Barrett Braden, and Toby Leinart and Sharie Purcell. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Kaityn Nicole Braden and Connor Douglas Braden, and Nikki Flemming and Mark David Flemming; his sisters, Lula Mae Cox of LaFollette, Emma Sue Williams and Nancy Morgan, both of Oliver Springs, and Shelby Jean Duncan, Inez Braden, Mary Randolph and Martha Carroll, all of Briceville; his aunt, Elsie Moore of Ohio; his uncle, Verlin Braden of Briceville; and by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Tom Byrge and the Rev. Greg Goodman officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Indian Bluff Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the funeral home. Vera Cassat Hall, 90, of Hartsville, formerly of Norris, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Born June 17, 1914, in Fayetteville, Ark., she was the daughter of Toy Lee and Ella Mae Cassat. She graduated from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She was a member of Norris Religious Fellowship Church and retired as a economics teacher from Norris High School. She enjoyed sewing, reading and church activities, her family said. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Jiggs" William Hall and her sister, Verna Thomas. Mrs. Hall is survived by her daughters, Vera Jo Scudder of Norris and Mary Lea Hall of Oak Ridge; her son, Charles Louis Hall and wife, Sam, of Hartsville; her grandchildren, Gary Scudder of Norris, Mark Phillips and wife, Michele, of Murfreesboro, Matt Scudder and wife, Valerie, of Norris, Chris Hall of Murfreesboro, LeAnn Moles of Lake City, and Greg Hall and wife, Sheina, of Florida; her sister, Opal Lea Lindy of Washington; and by her great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Norris Memorial Garden with the Rev. Keith Haverkamp officiating. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Norris High School, Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, 5005 Custis Lane, Knoxville, TN 37920-3714. William Bass, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Windwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton.
