Member of Sinking Springs United Methodist Church. Survivors: husband, Charles Taylor of Clinton; daughters, Jaydie Osborn Farmer of Nashville, Jennifer Pio and husband, Jimmie Colley of Ft. Payne, Ala.; step son, Joseph and his wife, Denise Taylor of Clinton; step daughter, Tiffany Taylor of Clinton; 8 grandchildren. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 Sinking Springs United Methodist Church, Rev. Lisa Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. WHITE, SYLVIA GENEVA - age 91 of Clinton, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2004 at her residence. Member of North Clinton Baptist Church. Retired as a clerk from Union Carbide Y-12 after 20 years of service. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Stocks and a son, Eugene Stocks. Survivors: daughters, Shirley Folds of Clinton, Wilma Viles of Clinton, Joyce Hughes of Clinton, Georgia and her husband, Tyrone Simonds of Clinton; son, Jimmy and his wife, Linda Smith of Oak Ridge; 22 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 at Holley Gamble Chapel, Rev. Joe Bridges officiating. Interment will be 12 noon Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Anderson Memorial Garden. WEATHERSBY, BETTY - Oak Ridge, 83, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at St. Mary's Residential Hospice, Friday, October 15, 2004 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by, her husband of 58 years, William E. Weathersby, Oak Ridge; their two daughters, Karen Kennedy and husband, Norman of Chattanooga, Margaret Mazis and husband, Chris, Houston, TX; and four grandsons. Betty was born in San Diego, California and attended Chapman College in Los Angeles and the University of California at Berkley. After her marriage to Bill, they lived in Houma, Louisiana for five years before making Oak Ridge their home. While caring for her family, Betty completed her education at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and pursued a teaching career as an elementary art teacher in the Oak Ridge public schools for eighteen years. Betty was active in the Retired Teachers Association, the Arts Guild, and American Association of University Women. She leaves behind countless friends that she considered family. The family requests that memorials may be made in the form of donations to St. Mary's Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
