WILLIE MAE BRADEN, MARTHA LOU "GRANNY" age 82, Clinton, TN, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2004 at St, Mary's Hospice. Member of Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church. Former employee of the former Magnet Mills in Clinton. Granny Braden enjoyed crocheting, nature rides in the mountains. She was an avid UT Sports Fan and the light of her life was her grandchildren. Preceded in death by: her parents, John W. and Srelda Rainey; brother, Robert Leonard Rainey; and a sister, Mary Jane Rainey. He was a member of First Baptist Church of EdgeWater, Florida. He was a WWII U. S. Navy Veteran. He belonged to Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F.& A.M. in Lenoir City. He retired after 25 years of service with Pan-Am Airways at Cape Kennedy. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corp at Cade's Cove, Tennessee. He was a member of the last graduating class of Coal Creek High School - 1939. He was preceded in death by: wife, Leona Sargent Carden; son, Capt. Albert Parker Carden who was killed in Vietnam in 1971; parents, James Ancil & Martha Viles Carden; brothers & sisters, Carrie Myers, Lassie Massengill, Lawrence Carden, Claude Carden, Ralph Carden, Grace Rogers, Alene Bradley & Carl Carden. He was a member of the Speights Chapel AME Zion Church; active in the CB Clubs of Roane County. Before his retirement, Mr. Carney was employed as a janitor for 34 years at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, X 10 Plant. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII, Korean Conflict, and retired from the National Guard. He was a baseball coach, a charter member of the Optimist Club, and involved in Law Enforcement for 10 years in Roane County. Preceded in death by: his parents, John Marcus and Lucy Mae Shamblin Guinn; three sisters, Venita Guinn; Annell King; and Elaine Morehouse; two brothers, William Guinn and Ed Guinn.
