From The Oak Ridger 6 Oct 2004 William R. Bass, 82, of Oak Ridge, Laura Edna Parrish, 87, of Oliver Springs, William R. Bass, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Windwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. Born April 30, 1922, in Elk Valley, he was the son of Reuel Norton and Ella Trammell Bass. Mr. Bass was a pharmacist at the old Pine Valley Pharmacy on New York Avenue. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, a Baptist and a member of the Scottish rite. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Mary Blanckertz Bass; his son, Gary Bass and wife, Linda, of Kingston Springs; his daughter, Susan Higgins, of Oak Ridge; his three grandchildren, Kaci Higgins, Kari Higgins and Matthew Bass; and his sister, Betty Ann Todd of Medina. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may stop by the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, to sign the register book.
