General Sherman Hatfield, age 84 of Tackett Creek Bernard Ritschdorff of LaFollette Rev. Howard W. Robbins, age 81 of Clinton Alicia G. Rutherford age 24, of Jacksboro George Onve "Pete" Baird, age 68 of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Campbell County died Oct. 21. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55 and retired from P and G Ivorydale after 55 years. He was the beloved father of Pamela Sue Baird and George Onve Baird, III; dear brother of David, Fred, Clyde, "Dub", James C., Lester Lee, Debbie Baird and Patsy Owens; she is also survived by family and friends. Funeral services were Oct. 25 at Cross Funeral Home. Interment was in the Warren Memorial Gardens in Elk Valley. Paul Cross, age 68 died Oct. 20 at his home in Wartburg. He served in the United States Army in Korea, during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist for several businesses in Knoxville and Oak Ridge. Eventually he fulfilled a long dream of opening his own business in Wartburg. He had owned and operated C and C Tool and Die, Inc. for the last 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Cross; several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Redmon Cross; children, Connie Beaubien, Freida Hyden, Sabbath and Nathaniel Cross; grandchildren, Joseph, Ashlee, Preston, Aaron, Jonathon and Madeline; brothers, John Cross, Jr. of Wartburg, Verlin Cross of Oakdale and Othie Cross of LaFollette; sisters, Angela, Christina and Serelda, all of Campbell County. Funeral services were Oct. 22 at Schubert Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Phillips and Rev. Paul Frick officiating. Interment was in the Liberty Church Cemetery. Margaret Daugherty, age 77 of Knoxville, formerly of Jellico died Oct. 21 at the Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born Sept. 14, 1927 at Jellico, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Carrie Moon Daugherty. She was a member of AME Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Daugherty and Debra Bowman, both of Knoxville, Kay Sturdivant of Chattanooga; granddaughter, LaGina Gilliard, Knoxville; grandson, James Anden-Ross Daugherty of Knoxville; great granddaughter, Alexia K. Gillard of Knoxville; sister, Dorothy Ray and Helen Russio, both of Dayton, OH; brother, Robert Earl Daugherty of Dayton, OH. Funeral services were Oct. 24 at the Cox and Son Chapel with Rev. Pauline Daugherty, age 61of Caryville died Oct. 22 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Campbell County. She was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is greatly missed by family and friends. Her grandchildren loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Elissa Jordan Wilson; brother, Hubbard Wilson; sisters, Gerdie Walden, Mary Shoups, Winnie Lamb, Virgie Rogers, and Rosie Walden. Sherry Lynne White Greene, age 46 of LaFollette died Oct. 20 at her home. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed life and was a friend to all. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack H. White; grandparents, Ona Mae Gross, Perry Gross, Lewis and Lou White. She is survived by her son, Christopher Len White of Atlanta, GA; mother, Novella Gross White; sisters, Shelia and Sharon White; nephew, Tyler White; special friend, Terry Saunders all of LaFollette; a host of other relatives and friends. General Sherman Hatfield, age 84 of Tackett Creek died Oct. 18 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. Jake and Nancy Hatfield; sons, Sherman Junior Hatfield and General Ray Hatfield; daughter, Betty Jean Hatfield; brother, Charles Hatfield; sisters, Evelyn Jackson, Mae Hatfield, Sarah Rachel Hatfield. Harp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Bernard Ritschdorff of LaFollette died Oct. 19 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell Co. He was a member of The Jolly Gestures Clown Troup. He loved to entertain and put a smile on children's faces. He also was maintenance manager at Walgreen's Corporate Head Quarters for 25 years. He served in World War II in the Army Division and earned a Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Ritschdorff. Survivors include his sons and daughter in laws, Michael and Edwina Ritschdorff of Chicago, Martin and Lynne Ritschdorff of Detroit; son, Steven Ritschdorff of Chicago; grandchildren, Matthew, Meredith, and Elise Ritschdorff all of Detroit; brother, Joseph Ritschdorff of Tom's River, NJ; sisters, Ann Schrantz and Mary Ritschdorff both of Chicago; special friends, Bud, Richard, Mary, Barb, Lori, and Kerwer. Funeral Services were Oct. 23 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Hobert McCreary officiating. Robbins, age 81 of Clinton died Oct. 21 at his residence. He was a member of the Batley Baptist Church. He had pastored several churches in the area including West Side Baptist Church, Willowbrook Baptist Church, Pine Hill Baptist Church and Batley Baptist Church. He was ordained as a Baptist Minister in 1951 at Pine Hill Baptist Church which he pastored twice in his ministry. He also served as interim pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who serviced in WWII and received several decorations and citations such as Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantryman, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Campaign Star, American Theater Ribbon and WWII Victory Medal. He was born Aug. 31, 1923 in Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. and Ollie E. Robbins; sister-in-law, Ruth Robbins; niece, Sharon Orye. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances Lorene Robbins of Clinton; sister, Lucille Green and husband, Denver of Lake City; brother, Roy Oscar Robbins of Toledo, OH; sister-in-law, Lillian Ruth Sharp of Clinton; brother-in-law, James E. Harness, Jr. of Lake City; several nieces, nephews and host of friends. Funeral services were Oct. 23 at the Batley Baptist Church with Rev. Luke Kidwell officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens in LaFollette with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Alicia G. Rutherford age 24, of Jacksboro died Oct. 19 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of Norris Baptist Church. She was very active in her church and was special to all her family and friends in their hearts. She is survived by her mother, Rita Trammell of Jacksboro; grandparents, Paul and Beulah Wilson of Jacksboro; great grandmother, Opal Franklin of Memphis; half brother, Bradley Young of Jacksboro; aunts and uncles, Paula Faye and Tom Johnson , Sarah and Everett McCloud all of Jacksboro; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were Oct. 24 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Pastor David Seibers officiating. Interment was in Bakers Forge Cemetery.
