From the Knoxville News Sentinel 8 Oct 2004 BALDWIN, AUDREY SISSOM - age 81, SMITH, ARTIE H. - age 92 of Clinton, TN, THARPE, BERTHA HILL SIMPSON - age 96 of Knoxville, TN BALDWIN, AUDREY SISSOM - age 81, died on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the University of Tennessee Hospital. She was born in Harriman, TN, lived most of her life in Knoxville, TN and resided for the past 2 1/2 years at Shannondale of Maryville. Preceded in death by her husband, David R. Baldwin, Jr.; parents, Horace and Cora Sissom; brother, Edward Sissom; sister, Virginia Sissom Crane, and brother-in-law, Gale M. Crane. Mrs. Baldwin is survived by sister-in-law Mary Sue Wallace of Maryville, TN, nieces Gayle Anne Crane Bozicevich of Marietta, Ga and Suzanne Sissom Dennis of Maryville, TN; nephews Charlie Crane of Fairview, TX and Steve and Mike Sissom of Austin, TX. She had six great nephews and three great nieces, Rob Bozicevich and Kelly Bozicevich Wise of GA, Derek, Barrett and Mary Dennis of Maryville, Richard and Randy Crane and Sanders and Megan Sissom of TX. She also had four great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. She was employed for many years at Union Carbide in Oak Ridge and retired from TVA in Knoxville. She was also a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Shannondale Retirement Center in Maryville, 804 Shannondale Way. She was born July 9, 1908 in Scott County, TN to the late Richard and Nancy Jane Wright Hill. Bertha was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Oza Simpson and William Tharpe, son, Ova Simpson, daughter, Camille Simpson, 5 brothers, 7 sisters, 5 grandchildren, son-in-laws, Roy Moon, Ira Jeffers, Ronda Jeffers and Verlon Byrd, daughter- in-law, JoAnn Simpson.
