(PAPA) - age 79 of Knoxville, LAUGHLIN, ROBERT LEE - age 87 of Concord. LONG, JENNIE LEE ORAN - age 82 of Piney Flats, TN, BROWN, RAYMOND HAYWOOD 75 of Oak Ridge. died on Friday, October 1, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center. Born in Polk County, Tennessee on August 14, 1929 to parents William Manuel and Essie Blankenship Brown. A member of Glenwood Baptist Church. Mr. Brown was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Brown retied after 46 years of service with Bell South, retiring on September 30, 1993. Ray was an avid golfer and loved his family very much. Preceded in death by: three brothers, Austin, Gwinn, and Olin Brown. Survivors include; wife, Nellie Hall Brown, Oak Ridge, who is employed at TN Bank; son, Gregory S. Brown and wife, Susan, Oak Ridge; daughter, Carla M. Goins and husband, Jeffrey, Knoxville; twin brother, Ray Sherwood Brown and wife, Dean, Clinton; sister, Sue Newman, Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Stefanie M. Stair and Amanda Brown; step- grandchildren, Heather and Josh Shearin; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Glenwood Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 7 pm with Rev. Mark Walton officiating. The graveside service will be on Wednesday, 11 am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Mrs. Everett came to Oak Ridge in May of 1944. She was a homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church, Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by: husband, William S. Everett, Sr., 1-18-1983; three brothers, Richard, William, and Willard Smith; two sisters, Katie Judd and Verna Sary; Survivors include: son, William S. Everett, Jr., and wife, Nancy B., Knoxville; sister, Una Jennings, Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, James Christopher Everett, Nashville, William Bryan Everett, Orland Park, Illinois, Mark Stephen Everett, Alston, GA, Nancy Elizabeth Eubanks, Brownsville, TN; great grandchild, Samantha Everett, Hixson, TN; many nieces and nephews. (PAPA) - age 79 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Farragut Health Care Center after struggling with Alzheimer's disease and it's complications. He was born on April 7, 1925 in Jersey City, New Jersey and graduated from Kearny High School in Kearny, N.J. where he was on the swimming and boxing teams. A United States Army Veteran, Tom served during World War II as a Paratrooper while fighting in the battles of Luzon, New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. Tom received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with the Bronze Star and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. He attended the University of Pittsburg and received a degree in Chemistry from Seton Hall University. Tom enjoyed a long and successful career in sales, real estate development and as a manufacturer's representative, working with Rowland Products Corp., CT, Minuteman Realty, CT, Chemical Separations Corp. Oak Ridge and finishing with his own company, Tom Hogan and Associates in Oak Ridge, where he and his wife lived for the past 38 years prior to his illness. He enjoyed and had a passion for a variety of activities and hobbies including golf, squash, boating, sailing, woodworking and flying. Tom was a longtime member and served as President of Chapter 17 of the Experimental Aviation Association where he and other club members built an Ultra Light Aircraft [which his family was pleased he never got off the ground, but which did remarkably fly]. He passed his love for these activities on to his children. Tom was the proud founder and President of the "Coo Coo Boo Boo Club", whose membership was limited to himself, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His joy and passion for life, his bold and firey nature, his Irish wit and keen sense of humor [both of which carried a "barb" or two], his commitment and loyalty will be remembered by his family and friends. Tom never met a stranger. He was a good man and will be missed. Tom was preceded in death by: his parents, Matthew D. and Adeline M. Hogan; his beloved aunt, Barbara (Bob) Moscarello; and grandson, Martin Beiser Hogan. Tom is survived by: his loving wife of 57 years, Doris Glenn Hogan of Oak Ridge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Marie Hogan of Knoxville and Bill and Dee Hogan of Deerfield Beach, Fl; his children, daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Jay Herbert of Knoxville; sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Debbie Hogan of Knoxville, Gary Hogan of Clinton, Tom Hogan, Jr. of Sevierville and James and Sally Hogan of Kingston; grandchildren, Kristin Herbert of New Orleans, La., Emily Herbert, John Herbert and Michael Hogan all of Knoxville, Katie Hogan of Durham, N.C., Andrea Hogan and Natalie Hogan of Oak Ridge, Matt Hogan of Maryville, Dean Hogan of Knoxville and Carrie Marie Hogan-Braden of Sevierville; great grandchildren, Brittany Gibbs of Knoxville, Wyatt Breeden of Sevierville and Emma Grace Baker-Hogan of Knoxville; nieces and nephews, Doug, Leslie, Lee Lee, Kim and Scott and their spouses and children all of whom collectively make up the Hogan Clan and all of whom he loved and cherished. Passed away, Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center following a brief battle with cancer. He was a devoted father and a lifelong member of Concord United Methodist Church. Robert was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army during the U. S. Occupation of Japan. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory after 33 years of service as a machinist. He was an avid fisherman on Fort Loudon Lake for most of his adult life. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Clair Ruth Hobbs Laughlin, his parents Jake and Pansy Laughlin, brothers Carl and Melvin Laughlin and sisters Louise Brown, Mary Brown, Francis Wolfe and Nell Slagle. Robert is survived by his daughter and son in law, Linda and Eddy Ford of Farragut; brother Frank Laughlin; and sister Ruth Branson, both of Knoxville; sisters and brothers in law, Gin and Rev. David Gregg of Knoxville, Grace and Rev. Harvey Booher of Cleveland, Tn. and Ruby and Bill Beets of Farragut. He also leaves numerous special nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
