Cross, 40, of Clinton, Kimberly Gilbert, 44, of Clinton, formerly of Williamsburg, Ky., Cletus "Pete" Anthony Rinderer, 92, of Oak Ridge, The Rev. Howard W. Robbins, 81, of Clinton, Nora Ethel Williams, 93, of Richland, Wash., Hilda Gillen Edward Marshall, 85, of Oak Ridge, Edward Franklin Bruce, 47, of Celebration, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge and Knoxville, passed away suddenly on Oct. 7, 2004. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Melissah Jena Bruce, and two very cute but very sad little dogs, Lulu and Blackie Bruce. He is also survived by his parents, E.F. and Ruth Bruce of Knoxville; his in-laws, Jimmy and Betty Dopson of Lilburn, Ga., and Joe and Christine Swann of Dandridge; one brother, Charles Bruce of Solway; two sisters, Jan Phillips (Mickey) of Lake City and Jill Bruce of Oak Ridge; one sister-in-law, Jennifer Smith (Barry) of Seymour; one brother-in-law, Robbie Silver (Kaci) of Dandridge; six nieces and nephews, Christopher, Victoria, Caitlyn, Hannah, Kaylea and Parker, all of whom he treasured; as well as many other family members and friends whose kindness and love meant the world to him. A memorial to celebrate his life was held at Rose Mortuary in Knoxville on Saturday, Oct. 23. In lieu of flowers, his wife asks that donations be made to either the East Tennessee Children's Hospital or to the local SPCA. She was a member of the Clinton Memorial United Methodist Church. According to her family, she was a loving wife and mother who was always concerned about others more than herself. She was steadfast throughout her battle with cancer and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her father, James Apple. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Cross, of Clinton; her daughters, Ashley Lawrence and Alexandria Lawrence; her step-daughters, Jessica Cross and Jamie Cross; her step-sons, Justin Cross and Jacob Cross; her mother, Alice Apple, of Westmoreland; her brother, Mark Apple, of Hartsville; and several other relatives and friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton with Pastor Don Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at the church in Clinton. Additional funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin with Pastor Don Thomas officiating. A graveside service will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Gallatin. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home in Gallatin. Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Kimberly Gilbert, 44, of Clinton, formerly of Williamsburg, Ky., died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at her home in Clinton, surrounded by family and friends. She was Human Resources Coordinator of the Oak Ridge Division of the Rogers Group Inc. Ms. Gilbert was preceded in death by her father, Doyle Gilbert. She is survived by her mother, Jolene Gilbert, of Williamsburg, Ky.; her four brothers, Kyle Gilbert, of Williamsburg, Ky., Kevin Gilbert, of Lexington, Ky., Kenny Gilbert, of Clinton, and Keith Gilbert and wife, Sherri, of Lexington, Ky.; and her nieces and nephews, Lindsay Tyson, Jesseman Blair, Chandler Keith, Madison Shae, and Hannah Cheyene Gilbert. The funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Ky. with Dr. Ron Higdon and Dr. Harold Manney officiating. The burial was at Highland Park Cemetery, Croley Addition. The family received friends Monday, Oct. 18. Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Ky. is in charge of arrangements. Cletus "Pete" Anthony Rinderer, 92, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at Briarcliff Health Care Center. Born Oct. 19, 1912, in Highland, Ill., he was one of ten children born to Alvin David Rinderer and Emma Fetterer Rinderer, of Greenville, Ill. Mr. Rinderer began working as a machinist at K-25 in 1944, working on the A & P (Atomic Plane) Project. He also worked as a machinist at Y-12 and eventually became department head. He was a Catholic and served for many years as a volunteer with the Daniel Arthur Rehabilitation Center. He was also very active with the Oak Ridge Senior Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Grace Rinderer, who died Dec. 12, 1987; his two infant brothers, Tip Rinderer and Tony Rinderer and his sister, Mary Ann Brauns. Mr. Rinderer is survived by his son, Larry T. Rinderer and wife, Gerry, of Oak Ridge; his sisters, Josephine Higginbotham and husband, Russ, of St. Louis, Mo., and Bernadine Rinderer, of Menomonie, Wis.; his brothers, Francis Rinderer and wife, Jackie, and Jerry Rinderer and wife, Judy, all of Greenville, Ill.; his grandchildren, Anthony Rinderer and his wife, Teresa, of Gloucester, Va. and Pam Mull and her husband, Steve, of Oak Ridge; his great-grandchildren, Megan and Caleb Rinderer, of Gloucester, Va., and Simon, Owen and Mary Mull, of Oak Ridge. The funeral service was Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Weatherford Mortuary with Dr. Steve McDonald officiating. A graveside service will be at noon Monday, Oct. 25, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Robbins, 81, of Clinton, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at his residence. Born Aug. 31, 1923, in Lake City, he was the son of Roy C. and Ollie E. Robbins. Rev. Robbins was a member of Batley Baptist Church and had pastored several churches in the area, including West Side Baptist Church, Willowbrook Baptist Church, Pine Hill Baptist Church and Batley Baptist Church. He was ordained as a Baptist Minister in 1951 at Pine Hill Baptist Church, which he pastored twice in his ministry. He also served as interm pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and received several decorations and citations such as Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantryman, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Campaign Star, American Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Ruth Robbins and his niece, Sharon Orye. Rev. Robbins is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances Lorene Robbins, of Clinton; his sister, Lucille Green and husband, Denver, of Lake City; his brother, Roy Oscar Robbins, of Toledo, Ohio; his sister-in-law, Lillian Ruth Sharp, of Clinton; his brother-in-law, James E. Harness Jr., of Lake City; and several nieces, nephews and other friends. The funeral was Saturday, Oct. 23, at Batley Baptist Church with the Rev. Luke Kidwell officiating. A graveside service was held Sunday, Oct. 24, at Campbell Memorial Gardens in LaFollette with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. The family received friends on Saturday, Oct. 23, at the church. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City is in charge of arrangements. Nora Ethel Williams, 93, of Richland, Wash., formerly of Mt. Vernon, Ill., died Oct. 21, 2004, at Alterra Assisted Living Center in Richland, Wash. Born on March 22, 1911, in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of Cloyde Foster and Minnie Brookman Foster. She married Rolla H. Williams on March 18, 1931 in St. Louis, Mo. She worked at the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory and for the state of Illinois as a file clerk with the Secretary of State's Office. Mrs. Williams would purchase teddy bears from thrift stores, clean and repair them to look like new, and then donate them to charity. This year she had already cleaned and repaired 100 dolls and teddy bears that have already been donated. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers and a granddaughter. She is survived by her three daughters, Norma Williams and husband, Dwight, of Hughes Springs, Texas, Jeanette McBride, of Oliver Springs, and Kate Allen and husband, Dale, of Richland, Wash.; her six grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pearl Peacock and husband, Gail, of San Diego, Calif. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Ill., with the Rev. Kenneth Holland officiating. The burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Opdyke Missionary Baptist Church. These may be mailed to the Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
