From The Oak Ridger 28 Oct 2004 Alfred Duncan, 84, of Oliver Springs J.C. Haskins, 62, of Oliver Springs, Eric H. Denton, 34, of Las Vegas, Nev., Edith Peters, 72, of Harriman, Coy F. "Roger" Vanover, 63, of Oliver Springs, Alfred Duncan, 84, of Oliver Springs died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born April 12, 1920, in Anderson County, Mr. Duncan was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Duncan retired from the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Pierce Duncan and Myra Seiber Duncan, and by brothers and sisters. Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife, Pansy L. Duncan; a son, Lamar Duncan and wife, Debbie, of Powell; a daughter, Chaval R. Sutherland and husband, Mark, of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel Webster, Brandon A. and Logan L. Duncan, and Dresdin Sutherland. He is also survived by two brothers, Burley Duncan and wife, Laverne, and Raymond Duncan, and wife, Jonnie, all of Oliver Springs; three sisters, Sue Duncan, Ina Cox, and Floella Brummett and husband, Carl, all of Oliver Springs; and several nieces, nephews, special friends and extended family. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 at the funeral home. J.C. Haskins, 62, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born May 3, 1942, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Hoyle Leslie Haskins and Susie Lee Batten Haskins, who are both deceased. Mr. Haskins worked as an electrical engineer at the Y-12 National Security Complex. He was a member of the Haskins Chapel Assembly of God. Mr. Haskins was an avid woodworker and, according to his family, a big part of the lives of his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Susie Stewart Haskins; four daughters, Debra Jones and husband, Tommy, Whitney Neeley and husband, Melvin, all of Shelbyville, Lee Ann Mercado of Oak Ridge, and Lisa Haskins, USAF, stationed in Germany; a stepdaughter, Donna Duncan, of Oliver Springs; and a sister, Jean Coursey and husband, James, of Shelbyville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer and Kevin Jones, Danielle Voelkel, Kristie Brandon, Shelby and Aaron Neeley, Blake Boyce, Jacie Neeley, Elisha, Elena and Elijah Mercado, Kevin and Tyler Duncan, and Derek Stanford; and nephew and nieces, Jeff Yoes, Vicki Landers, Edwina Reynolds and families. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Milton Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
