    1. Baker Family
    2. Don't ask why but I have been researching the Bowling Baker family that went to Taney Co, MO, which in 1851, became Stone Co, MO. This is not the Baker's I was looking for but they were very interesting, so I continued to research them and have a lot of info on them. I am planning a trip to MO, looking for other family members and since I have done so much on this Baker family, I wanted to get in touch with others who were researching them and see if I have something they need and or get something for them while I'm there. This Bowling Baker was a Justice of the Peace in the 1830's. He and his brothers bought Baker's Forge in 1835. By 1850, he had moved his family to Taney Co, MO. He was married to Mary 'Polly' Jane Smith, in abt 1824, Campbell Co, TN. She was the daughter of Ali and Mary Jane Denny Smith. Taney County became Stone County in 1851. He died in 1864, Stone Co, MO. He was shot by Bushwhackers. He was running to a corncrib for shelter when they rode up. I am looking for his and Mary's gravesite, most likely in Stone Co, MO. Hope to hear from everyone out there related to this family. Helen
