From The Oak Ridfer 22 Oct 2002 Fred Allen McCrary, 79, of Oak Ridge, Fannie "Faye" Mae Philpot, 80, of Oak Ridge, Rachel Roberts, 53, of Oliver Springs, Cletus A. Rinderer, 92, of Oak Ridge, Fred Allen McCrary, 79, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Sept. 5, 1925, in Transylvania County, N.C., he was the son of Joe and Bessie Jones McCrary. Mr. McCrary worked for Union Carbide Corporation in the early 1940s and retired in 1981 from Martin Marietta Energy Systems. He had been employed as a sheet metal worker at the K-25 site. He is a member of Beech Park Baptist Church, the Masonic Omega Blue Lodge No. 536 and York Rite Bodies. He also served as Past Master of Faith Masonic Lodge No. 756 and as a Union Steward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Aleene Smith McCrary, who died Feb. 8, 1996; his brother, Boyce McCrary; and his sister, Novella Metcalfe. He is survived by his wife of five years, Marie Jones McCrary; his son, Ray McCrary and wife, Jeanne, of Cedartown, Ga.; his daughters, Deborah Ringley and husband, Kevin, of Oliver Springs, and Kathy Harward and husband, David, of Athens, Ga.; his stepsons, Jessie Patterson and wife, Virginia, of Dyllis, Len Patterson and wife, Betty, of Oliver Springs, and Jerry Patterson of Coalfield; his step-daughters, Glenda Lay and husband, Bruce, of Oak Ridge, Shirley McKinney and husband, Steve, of Dyllis and Mary Smith and husband, Don, of Ten Mile; his sister, Ruth Adams, of Transylvania County, N.C.; eight grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. There will be a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Weatherford Mortuary, led by members of Omega Blue Lodge No. 536. The funeral will follow with the Rev. Robbie Leach officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Weatherford Mortuary. Born Nov. 15, 1923, in Claiborne County, she was the daughter of Emily Bull Seals and George Washington Seals. She worked for Martin Marietta Energy Systems at the K-25 plant during the war, and later worked for Philpot Cleaners and Laundry. According to her family, she was a great seamstress and loved sewing and quilting. Her grandchildren were also an important part of her life. Mrs. Philpot is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bryce Philpot; her son, Halen E. Philpot and wife, Barbara; her daughters, Linda Morrison and husband, Lee, and Joy Philpot; her nephew, Winston H. Davis and wife, Jeannette, of Maryville; her nieces, Henrietta Knapp, of Oak Ridge, and Shannon Warren and Julie Williams, of Maryville; her brother-in-law, Delbert Philpot, of Oak Ridge, her four grandchildren, Rachel and Tyler Morrison, and Carmen and Merritt Philpot, all of Oak Ridge, and special friend, Rene Hawkins. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Joe Easterly officiating. A burial service will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. She was born May 10, 1951, in Clinton, and moved to Oliver Springs 37 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Moran Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Bennett Mitchell. She is survived by her husband, Charles Roberts, of Oliver Springs; her daughter, Tonya Ann Lowe and husband, Donald, of Clinton; her sons, James Roberts and wife, Samantha, of Oliver Springs, "Peanut" Roberts and wife, Jessica, of Clinton; her grandchildren, Char-lee, Dylan, Jesse, and Shelby Joe Roberts, John Allen Lietz, and Todd Allen Grabowski; her brothers, Richard O. Martin and Herbert "Smokey" Martin, both of Clinton; and her sisters, Opal Simmons, of Dallas, Texas, Betty Smith, of Oak Ridge, and Katherine Smith, of Clinton; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in the chapel of the Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Willson, the Rev. Clyde Bass and the Rev. Don Daugherty officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the funeral home. Cletus A. Rinderer, 92, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at Briarcliff Health Care Center.
