From The Knoxville News Sentinel 31 Oct 2004 BYRANT, JOHN FRANKLIN - age 92, MAHONEY, LOIS JACKSON - 91, of Oliver Springs, MCNEELEY, JAMES DELMON - age 83, of LaFollette, BYRANT, JOHN FRANKLIN - age 92, went to be with his Lord Friday, October 29, 2004. John was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church, Medford Fire Department and was a World War II veteran. He is preceded in death by parents, Dave and Martha Landrum Byrant; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors, wife of 56 years, Wilma Tuttle Byrant, Lake City; son & daughter in law, Tom & Debra Byrant, Louisville, Ky.; son, Johnny Byrant, Clinton; grandchildren, Tom Byrant, Bobby Byrant, Kimberly Byrant and husband, Tom Finch, Carrie and husband, Patrick Early, Sarah Byrant, Amy and husband, Matt James, Andy Hillmann, Chase Hillmann; great grandchildren, Corey Snapp, Anthony Finch. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home, with funeral service 7 p.m. at the Hatmaker Funeral home, Rev. Tom Byrge and Rev. Larry Webster officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Monday November 1, 2004 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Oak Ridge, with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. MAHONEY, LOIS JACKSON - 91, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Life Care of Morgan County. She was born November 16, 1912 in Morgan Co., the daughter of John C. and Susan Jones Jackson. She was a member of New Mountain View Baptist Church of Oliver Springs, where she served as pianist for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. T. Mahoney in 1968; daughter, Emma Jean Whaley in 1997; Brothers, Clay, Lloyd and Max Jackson and sister, Pauline Jackson. She is survived by son, Howard B. Mahoney and wife Carol of Waycross, GA; daughters, Judith M. Eaton and husband Lynn and Carolyn Stein and husband Julian; son- in-law, Leonard Whaley, all of Oliver Springs; 7 grandchildren, Mark Stein of Palo Alto, CA; James Stein of Shelton, CT; Jay Stein of Vienna, VA; Katherine Whaley Duncan of Andersonville; Glenda Cloutier of Cranberry Township, PA; Paulette Higginbottom of Marietta, GA and Howard Mahoney, Jr of Maceo, KY. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Joe Copeland officiating. The burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. An on-line guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com MCNEELEY, JAMES DELMON - age 83, of LaFollette, departed for his Heavenly Home Friday October 29, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital Knoxville after a brief hospitalization. Member of West LaFollette Baptist Church ant the longest surviving dialysis patient (9 years) of LaFollette Dialysis Center. He will be remembered by friends and family as a man who always brought laughter with his sense of humor, warmth with his east-going style; and his desire to help others whenever he could. He also served as Trustee for Bakers Forge Cemetery, where he helped raise funds for perpetual care. Raised in a family of 14 children, he was the last surviving son of Bell and Hugh McNeeley, who proceeded him to Heaven as well as sisters; Myrtle Brown, Georgia Ballard, Ida Robbins, Estelle White, Edna Brown & Nina Petry, brothers; Earl, Willard (Bill) & Edgbert McNeeley. Also preceding in death: wife Cecil McNeeley. He served his country honorably during WWII and later accomplished a 9 year career in the Merchant Marines. After returning to LaFollette, he operated the cafeteria at Imperial Reading Factory for 19 years. Survivors: Clara Raynor - a very special friend & devoted caretaker of 6 years & her family; daughter: Karen Sue Cooper, Sana Anna, CA; sisters: Odessa Bowman, Monroe, MI, Nadine Brooks, Maryville, Avanelle Wheeler, Knoxville; special brother-in- law: Kenny Wheeler; brother-in-law: Edison Brown; step- daughter: Helen Grant ; many nieces and nephews. Funeral: 8 p.m. Sunday Cross Chapel, Rev. Dave Gresser officiating. Interment: 2 p.m. Monday Campbell Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by Campbell Co. Honor Guard.
