From The Knoxville News Sentinel 4 Jul 2004 BREWER, CORA LEE - age 94, of Clinton, MCCULLEY, NORMA JEAN - age 76 of Caryville, SALYER, CARLTON SCOTT - age 59, of Claxton, BREWER, CORA LEE - age 94, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center. She was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church. Her hobby was farming. She was employed at the former Magnet Mills in Clinton. Preceded in death by parents, J.J. & Elizabeth Melton Rucker; step mother, Laura Buckner; daughter, Elizabeth Cawood; brothers, Walter, Homer & J. Will Rucker & sister, Rose Thompson. Survivors: daughter, Joyce Gamble of Heiskell; sons, Jerry & wife Judy Brewer of Heiskell, Gene & wife Joann Brewer of Heiskell, R.J. & wife Ann Brewer of Saylorsburg, PA; brother,Roscoe Rucker & Mac Author Rucker of Florida; sisters, Bertha Fowler of Clinton, Betty Haygood of Clinton; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 11:00, AM Wednesday at Deep Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Harness, Rev. Jerry Copeland & Rev. Phil Poe officiating. The interment will follow at Sartin Cemetery. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. MCCULLEY, NORMA JEAN - age 76 of Caryville, passed away Friday, July 2, 2004 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was born March 11, 1928 in Campbell County, Tennessee to the late McKinley and Bertha Sneed Jones. Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Bill McCulley, daughter, Robin McCulley and sister, Aubrey Hatmaker. Survivors: husband of 56 years, William "Burl" McCulley Caryville, TN; several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM Sunday, July 4, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Lake City, TN. Funeral service: 8:00 PM Sunday, July 4, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Lake City, TN with Rev. Brian Courtney and Gene Wright officiating. Interment: 11:00 AM Monday, July 5, 2004 at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton, TN. Hatmaker Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements. SALYER, CARLTON SCOTT - age 59, of Claxton, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004 at his residence. He was the Anderson County Health director for 33 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Preceded in death by father, Carl Salyer. Born June 18, 1945 in Bristol, Virginia. wife, Susan Salyer of Claxton; mother, Margaret Salyer of Clinton; brother, Jeff Salyer & wife Jane of Clinton; nephew, Jeffrey Salyer Jr. & wife April of Cleveland; niece, Jana Salyer of Clinton; nephew, James Salyer of Clinton. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, July 5, 2004 at Holley-Gamble Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Dr. Fred Garmon officiating.
