FDrom The Oak Ridger 26 Jul 2004 Mary Stevens Christopher, 82, of Oliver Springs, Etta Lee Lowery Edwards, 101, of Harriman, Wilma Irene Gary, 87, of Harriman, Betty Clark McBride, 58, of Oak Ridge Ronald Mayton, 48, of Maryville, Mary Stevens Christopher, 82, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Briarcliff Health Care Center following a long illness. Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Oliver Springs, she was the daughter of Arthur Martin and Edy Ann Justice Martin. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and a member of Beech Park Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Kemper G. Stevens and Benjamin Christopher; three sisters, Lassie Ford, Maxine Merritt and Lola Griggs; and by five brothers, Fred, Frank, Carl, Leland and Mether Martin. Mrs. Christopher is survived by her son, Donnie Stevens and wife, Jennifer, of Oliver Springs; six grandchildren, Kevin Stevens, Coty Stevens, Matthew Stevens, Rachel Stevens, Casandra Stevens and Kalley Stevens; her sister, Lula Griggs, of Oliver Springs; and by her brother, Claude Martin, of LaFollette. The funeral was Sunday, July 25, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Robbie Leach officiating. A graveside service was to be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, at Anderson Memorial Gardens on the Oliver Springs Highway in Clinton. Etta Lee Lowery Edwards, 101, of Harriman, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. Born July 6, 1903, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of L.D. and Cora Blizzard Lowery. She was a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Edwards; four sisters, Jeanette Mitchell, Maude Roberts, Nellie Burris and Minnie Lowery; and by five brothers, Luke Lowery, John Lowery, Henry Lowery, Elmer Lowery and James Mitchell. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her brother, Tom Lowery and wife, Susie, of Harriman, and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral was to be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Clinton Pickard officiating. A graveside service was to follow at East Fork Cemetery. The family was to receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Wilma Irene Gary, 87, of Harriman, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at her home. She was a member of Lawnville Road Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Gary. Mrs. Gary is survived by her daughter, Laura Waldron and husband, Jim, of Crossville; her son, Jim Gary and wife, Johnnie, of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Marie and Thelma Dean; four brothers, J.L., Frank, Billy and Toby, all of Hamilton County; and by seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Sunday, July 25, 2004, in the chapel of Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston with Danny Nunn and Rob Sparks officiating. Burial was Sunday at Shelton Cemetery in Hamilton County. Betty Clark McBride, 58, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at her residence. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete at presstime. Ronald Mayton, 48, of Maryville, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at the Patricia Neal Center of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
