    2. From The Knoxville News Sentinel 27 Jul 2004 DYKES, VIRGINIA THURMAN - age 94, of Jacksboro, ROUSE, MR. JAMES LAWRENCE age 86 of LaFollette, DYKES, VIRGINIA THURMAN - age 94, of Jacksboro, entered the Gates of Heaven on July 25, 2004, surrounded by family and loving caregivers at Sunbridge Nursing Home. Born April 15, 1910, in St. Charles, VA. She retired from LaFollette Nursing Home and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, LaFollette Homemakers Club, and the Democratic Party. She helped to establish Campbell County Senior Citizens Center and was a member of Indiana Ave. Baptist Church where she helped establish the Young at Hearts Club. Preceded in death by: infant son; ex-husband, Charles Dykes; parents, Gother and Cora McGill Thurman; brothers, Earl and Carlos Thurman; sisters, Flossie Barnes, Rosa Barnes & Zelma Ladd. Survivors: daughters & sons-in-law, Darlyn & Edwin Jones, LaFollette, Shelby & Johnny Seal, Jacksboro; sons & daughters-in-law, Charles Dykes, Lowell & Beulah Dykes, Robert & June Dykes, Ronald & Cindy Dykes, all of LaFollette, Jimmy & Helen Dykes, of Duff; sister; Oneda Faye, of Toledo, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends Gladys Heatherly and Hazel Trowbridge. Funeral service 8 p.m. Tuesday Cross Chapel, Rev. Don Reynolds, Rev Mark Partin officiating. Interment 10 a.m. Wednesday Green Cemetery, Speedwell with Rev. Danny Lawson officiating. In Iieu of flowers memorials may be made to Campbell Co. Senior Citizens Center. The family will receive friends 6 til 8 p.m. Tuesday before the service. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home, LaFollette. ROUSE, MR. JAMES LAWRENCE age 86 of LaFollette, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was owner and operator of Service Grocery in LaFollette for over 50 years, a member of the LaFollette First Baptist Church, and a member of the Board of Directors of Peoples National Bank selected as Rotary Club Associate Farmer of the Year in 1994. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Mable Rouse of LaFollette; son, Dr. James Rouse and wife, Marilyn of Oak Ridge; daughter, Barsha Lynn Ammons of LaFollette; five grandchildren, Ellen Rouse Werner and husband John of Knoxville, Scott Rouse and wife, Cyndi of Nashville, Mitch Rouse and wife, Andrea of Beverly Hills, CA, Pam Brice and husband, David of Halls and John Ammons and wife, Erica of Loudon, TN; six great grandchildren; niece, Cindy Blair of Clinton; nephew, Roger Blair; special niece, Janice Sue Reynolds Tibbals of Long Beach Key, FL. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery for graveside services and interment with Rev. Lane Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walters Funeral Home.
