From The Oak Ridger 27 Jul 2004 Ronald Lee Mayton, 48, of Maryville, Frances Henson Overman, 91, Gorman "Minnowhead" Spradlin, 83, of Wartburg, Barbara Clark McBride, 58, of Oak Ridge, Ronald Lee Mayton, 48, of Maryville, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. Born July 15, 1956, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Archie H. and Janet Marie Guido Mayton, of Oak Ridge. Mr. Mayton was a 1974 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He was a senior maintenance associate at Denso in Maryville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Oak Ridge Sportsman Association and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Mayton was also an avid car enthusiast, his family said. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Patsy and Louise Guido and Harvey and Viola Mayton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mayton is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda Cayo Mayton; two sons, Zach Mayton, a rising senior at Heritage High School in Maryville, and Sam Mayton, a rising junior at Heritage High School; his daughter, Sarah Mayton, a rising eighth-grader at Heritage Middle School; and by his brother, Mike Mayton and wife, Megan, of Cookeville. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phyllis and Dan Cayo, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; his sisters-in-law, Joy Harlow-Chalton of England, Ruth Cayo of Colorado, Beth Cayo of Knoxville and Maria Fugate of Missouri; his brother-in-law, Ken Cayo, of Missouri; three aunts, Charlotte Gibson of Harriman, Cordelia Stout of Oliver Springs and Louise Terry and husband, Kenneth, of Rockwood; two uncles, Harvey Mayton and wife, Novella, of Oliver Springs and Louis Mayton and wife, Phyllis, of Rockwood; a host of extended family; his special friends, Linda and Kelly Greene, of Friendsville; and by many other very dear friends. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests any memorials be in the form of contributions to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund, 327 Vermont Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at the church. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Her family said her happy enthusiasm for life and the Lord will be always remembered with great love. Daughter of Ida Belle Coon and John N. Henson, she grew up in Benton, Ky., graduated from Union University in Tennessee and enjoyed her career as a teacher. She moved to Oak Ridge, where she lived for almost 50 years as an active member of the community and First Baptist Church. She moved to La Verne, Calif., in 1990 to be close to her children. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Scott and husband, the Rev. Dr. Lane Scott; her son, the Rev. Ted Overman and wife, Julie, and their son, Jason N. Overman; her sister, Rebecca Roberts; and by several nieces and nephews. "We will miss her smile and joyful laughter, but we know she is with God," her family said. Private services have been held. Douglass & Zook Mortuary in Monrovia, Calif., are in charge of arrangements. Gorman "Minnowhead" Spradlin, 83, of Wartburg, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at his home. He was a longtime member of Annadell Baptist Church and his family said he was a devoted singer in the quartet for the Lord and as a young boy he sung and taught music in church. According to his family he was a well-known fisherman, sportsman and auto body repairman. His family said he will be missed by all in the community as well as by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilda and Henry Spradlin; four brothers, Clarence, Darris, Howard and Eugene; his sister, Geneva Roberts, all of Strunk, Ky.; and by three great-grandchildren. Mr. Spradlin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geneva Stephens Spradlin; his children and their spouses, Delonha "Donnie" and Garland Heidel and James and Carolyn Spradlin, all of Wartburg, Norma and Billy Price of Lancing, Kay and Wayne Gibbs of Williamson, Ga., Sandra and Michael Roysden of Jamestown, Debra and John Mallett of Oak Ridge and Steven Spradlin of Harriman; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral was Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Annadell Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Goodman officiating. Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg is in charge of arrangements. Barbara Clark McBride, 58, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at her residence.
