The Monroe Evening News James L. Proffitt, 07/8/2004 March 8, 1949-July 7, 2004 TOLEDO - James L. Proffitt, 55, of Toledo, formerly of Monroe, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday in Toledo. He had been ill for a year. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in LaSalle Township Cemetery, LaSalle. Born March 8, 1949, in Monroe, he was the son of Lloyd and Cleta (Evans) Proffitt. He married Sandra L. Stevenson April 18, 1977, in Sneedville, Tenn. Surviving; are his wife; a son, James L. of Toledo; two daughters, Rebecca A. (Mark) Bielecki and Mandy M. Proffitt, both of Toledo; two brothers, Ronald (Donna) of Florida and David (Michele) of Toledo; a sister, Brenda Proffitt of Monroe, and three grandchildren.
