RUTH - age 87, of Mossy Grove, STEWART, DOCK ALDRIGE, JR. - age 55, ZENNI, FLORENCE G. - long-time resident of Oak Ridge, BLAINE, ROBERT ALLEN (LEN), JR. - born November 4, 1969 in Knoxville, TN passed away July 27, 2004 at Parkwest Hospital after a long & brave battle with leukemia. Len graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1987. He then received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in Sociology in 1995 and a Juris Doctorate from Sanford University, Cumberland School of Law in 2003. Len was a former police officer with the Oak Ridge Police Department. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Etheridge Roach; paternal grandparents, John and June Blaine; uncles, Larry and David Roach; and cousin, Cary Ragan. He is survived by his loving wife, Janna Blaine; mother, Mary Katherine Roach Franklin; father, Robert Blaine, MD; maternal grandmother, Martha (Mimi) Roach; mother-in-law, Kay Rodgers; father-in-law, John C. Rodgers, M.D.; brother-in-law, Shawn Rodgers; beloved aunts, Karen Ragan and Jennifer Roach; uncle, Carl Ragan; cousins, Misty Wynn and Ashley Hughey; and many other special family members; special friends, Michael Rooney, Patrick Dodge, Brian Perry, Robert Brooks and Charlie Daniel, Jr. Special thank you to the nurses at 4 West, Cancer Care of East Tennessee, Oncology Staff, Frank Gunson, and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. JR. - age 74, of Knoxville, formerly of Petros, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004 at his residence. He was born April 3, 1930 in Petros and was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. Mr. Portwood was a member of the Beech Fork Holiness Church and was an accomplished musician and a published songwriter. He was the founder of the Portwood Gospel Singing Group that toured several states in the Southeast. He retired from the K-25 plant as a steam plant operator in 1991. He previously worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a United States Navy veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. Owen was preceded in death by his wife, Doris June Portwood; parents, Owen C. Portwood Sr., and Dorothy Gardner Portwood. Sharp Funeral Home of Oliver Springs in charge of all arrangements. RANKIN, MRS. RUTH - age 87, of Mossy Grove, passed away Friday, July 30, 2004 in the Life Care Center of Morgan County. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church. She was a former beautician and loved to quilt and garden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Laura Lamance; sisters, Molly Heidel and June Lamance; son-in-law, Wayne Lovelace, Jr. She is survived by her husband, William Rankin; daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Laura and Don Mack of Mossy Grove and Billye and David Carrington of Oak Ridge; grandchildren: Deborah Lovelace of Memphis, Donna Jo Decote of Phoenix, Arizona, Joann Hill of Mossy Grove and Lydia Thugut of Durham, North Carolina; great grandchildren: Danielle Powers, Donnie Decote, Ashley Decote, and Holly Thugut; great-great granddaughter, Bella Taylor; sister, Helen Joyce; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ruth Lamance. STEWART, DOCK ALDRIGE, JR. - age 55, known to family and friends as Dock Jr., was silently called home on Wednesday, July 28th, 2004. He was born on June 15, 1949, to Dock Stewart, Sr. and Ocie Lee Stewart. He is preceded in death by his mother; and wife, Brenda Stewart. Mr. Stewart was a member of Oak Valley Baptist Church. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1967, where he held several records in track. Mr. Stewart served with the United States Army in Vietnam. He was employed with Southern Railroad of Knoxville for several years after being honorably discharged from the Army. He enjoyed sports, working on old cars, and doing construction work. ZENNI, FLORENCE G. - long-time resident of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at the age of 85. After retiring from the Marmoset Research Center of the Oak Ridge Associated Universities, she traveled extensively, volunteered at the Oak Ridge Arts Center and enjoyed the many friends she made in ABWA and throughout Oak Ridge, but she loved nothing more than spending time with her family. During her life she grieved the loss of her husband Joe Zenni, her brothers, Joseph and Henry Ghory, her sister, Janet Ghory Gebhardt and her son-in-law, Scott Robertson. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Anne McKinney and her husband, Michael McKinney; her son, Marty Zenni and his wife, Andy Sessions; her daughter, Leila Hungerford Lott and her husband, George Lott; her daughter, Liza Zenni; her grandchildren, Courtney Carmichael and her husband Ben, Casey Hungerford, Drew Zenni Robertson, Wyn Zenni Robertson, Colton Zenni and Rand McKinney; and her great-grandson, London Carmichael. Her brother and sisters, Jim Ghory, Helen Brown and Yvonne Schrotel, will treasure her memory as well.
