Preceded in death by: his wife, Ruth (Billy Rae Burchell); and their three daughters, Theresa, Kathy and Kimberley, parents, Dave and Ellen McGlothin; and a brother, Benton McGlothin. He leaves behind: his sister, Rema Sharpe; nieces and nephews: Gary Sharpe, Stanley Sharpe, Barry McClothin (Karen), Benna Hudson (Michael), Darrell White, Diane Johnson (Donald), Steve White (Edie), Denise Bates (Danny), Lori White; and numerous surviving relatives and friends. WISE, ELBERT WILSON - age 88, of Clinton passed away Friday, September 3, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of Clinton Second Baptist Church. He worked at the former Magnet Mills & retired from Vinylex Company in Knoxville. His hobby was farming. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Preceded in death by parents, George & Harriett Wise; brothers, Raymond Wise; sisters, Irene Martin, Mary Rose, Bessie Vanhuss & Georgia Shetterly. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lewis A. Ferrari. (BILL) JR. - formerly of Oak Ridge and Tellico Village, passed away September 4 at Park West Hospital after an extended illness. He was 89. Mr. Williams was born in New Willard, Texas, August 2, 1915. He attended Rice University, and received a BS in Engineering from Univ. of Colorado, Boulder, and an MS in Industrial Mgt. from the University of Tennessee. He joined Union Carbide in April of 1941 in the Cleveland, Ohio Vinylite Division, was transferred to the Bakelite Division in NJ, and for 5 years was Personnel Manager of the General Office of Union Carbide Corporation in New York City before coming to Oak Ridge in June 1951. There he became Executive Assistant to the General Supervisor of Industrial Relations for UCCC, and at the time of his retirement, in 1978, was Benefit Plans Coordinator for the Nuclear Division of Union Carbide Corporation. During his time with Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, he worked at the K-25, X-IO, and Y -12 plants. A long time collector of antique furniture and collectibles, his special interest was lumber and coal scrip and mining- related collectibles, and he was known nationally for his expertise in this area. He was past President of the National Coal Scrip Collectors Assoc. and served as co- editor for the chief reference book on the subject. He was a long time member and past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the BPOE 1684 (Elks Club). He was also active in the Oak Ridge community, serving as a member of the Oak Ridge Town Council in 1956 and 1957 during the transitional years to Incorporation, on Boards of Directors and as fund drive chairman and budget chairman for Anderson County Community Chest/Red Cross, Anderson County United Way, Chairman of the Governor's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped, UCC Safety Committee, past president of Southeast Amateur Athletic Union, and past president of the Atomic City Aquatic Club. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by: his first wife, Donna Stickley Williams of Oak Ridge; and his parents, William Edgar Sr. and Madge Brown Williams of New Willard, Texas. He is survived by: his wife of 15 years, Grace Meek Williams of The Neighborhood at Tellico Village; his brother and sister-in-law, Allen Cornelius and Dorothy Williams of Sugar Land, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Bill III and Betty Wiest Williams of Oak Ridge; daughter, Shelley Williams of Knoxville; son, Mike Williams, and daughter-in- law, Daphne Birnios of Knoxville; 6 grandsons, Jason, Merritt, and Patrick Williams of Oak Ridge, Tony Williams of NAS, Oceania, VA; Adam Bellows of Knoxville; and Michael Williams of Knoxville. Mr. Williams will be remembered by family and friends as a man who could quickly become an expert in any his children's interests, could coax a life story out of anyone he met within 30 minutes and a fine finish out of the most unpromising piece of furniture, was always ready to share in a good joke, and could keep a poker face long enough to empty your pockets. He will be missed daily by family and friends. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The son of the late John H. and Kathriene Sneyd Woodby, Mr. Woodby was retired from Union Carbide Y-12 where he was employed as a pipe fitter. He was a Veteran of World War II and started his military service in the Horse Calvary. Mr. Woodby was also an active member of the Solway Baptist Church where his funeral services will be held. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Rena I. Woodby; sons, Edward Woodby, Kenneth A. Woodby, and Dana Woodby; and a brother, Benick Woodby.
