From the Knoxville News Sentinel 22 Sep 2004 Thomas Wayne Freeman, 57, of Oak Ridge and Sunbright, formerly of Lake City, Janet Foutch McBride, 66, of Oak Ridge, Herbert Louis Meyer, D.B. Daugherty, 80, of Coalfield, Thomas Wayne Freeman, 57, of Oak Ridge and Sunbright, formerly of Lake City, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Freeman was an anesthesia technician at Methodist Medical Center, where he had worked for over 25 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Carrie Worthington Freeman; his sisters and a brother, Dean Tackett, Marsha Diane Freeman, Faye Stocks and Ken Freeman. Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife, Etta Freeman of Oak Ridge; his daughter, Melissa Renee Jenkins and husband, Harold, of Claxton; his sons, Terry Lynn Sammons and wife, Tina, of Sunbright, Thomas Dewayne Freeman and wife, Celina, of Powell; and grandchildren, Terry "Brian" Logan, Paula Odessa, Sean Drake and Kevin Jett Sammons. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Parks, Kathy Overton, Wanda Hamby, Rachel Sue Bumgardner and Betty Smith; his brother, Bob Freeman of Texas; his special friend, Patricia Ann Messer of Clinton; his mother-in-law, Bonnie L. Kennedy of Oak Ridge; and the staff of Methodist Medical Center and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with Jimmy Ray Seiber, elder, and Jack Sills, MMC chaplain, officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Patterson Cemetery in Briceville. The Campbell County Honor Guard will conduct military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the funeral home. Janet Foutch McBride, 66, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at her home. Born Nov. 13, 1937, in Smithville, she was the daughter of Roscoe Robert Russell Foutch and Ethelyn Maxwell Foutch. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Oak Ridge School System at Linden Elementary School for 20 years. Upon retirement, she went to work for the Emory Valley Center where she served as a group home manager for 15 years. Mrs. McBride is survived by her husband of 46 years, Loyce Everett McBride; sons, Terry Lynn McBride and Jeffrey McBride; daughter, Jan McBride Anderson and husband, Timothy, all of Oak Ridge; brothers, Jerry Foutch and wife, Lynda, of Faison, N.C., Dan Foutch and wife, Edith, of Knoxville, and Lynn Foutch and wife, Linda, of Jackson, Ga.; six grandchildren, Marie McBride of Columbia, and Samara McBride, Kathleen McBride, Conor McBride, Alicia McBride and Justin McBride, all of Oak Ridge; and by two great-grandchildren, Justin McBride Sanders and Tre` McBride. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at High's Funeral Home in McMinnville with the Rev. Glyndia Dodson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Warren County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Weatherford Mortuary, and from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at the McMinnville funeral home. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com. Herbert Louis Meyer, retired Air Force major, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Born March 16, 1920, in Orange, Calif., he was the son of Louis Meyer and May Budke Meyer, and the fifth of seven children. Mr. Meyer joined the National Guard while a junior in high school and went on to serve his country as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and later as deputy base commander for Offutt Air Force Base, where he served his last tour of duty. According to his family, he was known as someone who always gave his best, on and off the job. Flying was his great love, but he also enjoyed golfing, walking and working crossword puzzles. He lived most of his adult life in Plattsmouth, Neb., where he was a member of the Plattsmouth Country Club, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War. He was also the former commander of the Plattsmouth chapter of the American Legion. Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florene Meyer, to whom he was devoted, his family said; his daughter, Lucky Vogt and husband, David, of Oak Ridge; his son, Dr. John Meyer, of Salem, Ore.; three grandchildren, Kevin Vogt and wife, Megumi, Adam Vogt and Joanna Bikman; a great-grandson, Robert Masahide Vogt, of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Walter Meyer, and two sisters, Helen Unzelman and Pauline Miller, all of California. Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, Neb., is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kan. D.B. Daugherty, 80, of Coalfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
