From The Knoxville News Sentinel 15 Sep 2004 HOOKS, DOROTHY DAVIS - age 86 of Wartburg, RICHARDS, VENA SUMMERS - age 92, of Clinton, HOOKS, DOROTHY DAVIS - age 86 of Wartburg, passed away Monday, September 13, 2004. She was born October 9, 1917. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Wartburg. She was preceded in death by: a son, Floyde Ray Hooks; granddaughter, Marsha Elaine Hooks; parents, Aaron and Lizzie Davis; brother, Roy Daniel; sisters, Nettie Weaver and Flonnie Howard. She is survived by: her husband of 71 years, Rev. Homer Hooks; daughters, Estelene (Howard) Sweat, Phyllis (Jim) Morris; grandchildren, Larry (Barbara) Sweat, Teresa (Eddie) Lane, Tonya (Kevin) Anderson, Terry (Kathy) Hamby, Crystal Ramsey; great grandchildren, Gabriel and Tashena Lane, Shea and Raven Ramsey, Brian and Gerald Bunch, Stephanie Davis; great great grandchildren, Lauren and Katie, Bailey and Colin, Kristen and Brittany. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 15, 2004 from 6-8 pm at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will begin at 8 pm with Rev. Bill Dawson and Rev. Jack Chitwood officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, 12 noon in Anderson Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. RICHARDS, VENA SUMMERS - age 92, of Clinton, passed away Monday, September 13, 2004 at Mariner Health of Norris. She was a member of Blowing Springs Baptist Church. She loved Gospel music. Preceded in death by: husband, Delis B. Richards Sr.; son, Larry Richards; daughters, Eulajean & Ellajean Richards; parents, George & Tabitha Lee Summers; 6 brothers & 2 sisters. Survivors: sons, Bernard & wife Ruth Richards of Clinton, David & wife Sherry Richards of Panama City, FL, Don & wife Charlene Richards of Seymour, Indiana, Allen & wife Jackie Richards of Columbus, Indiana; daughters, Delores & husband Al Albertson of Clinton, Kathleen & husband James Hale of Chiefland, Florida; 24 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and other relatives. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the Chapel with Rev. Joe Bridges & Dr. Larry Pugh officiating. The graveside will be 11:00 am, Thursday at Bakers Forge Cemetery.
