    3. The following obituary appeared in todays Dayton Daily News. It may be of interest to someone. Claude Hughes, Jerry Max, age 69 of Oneida, TN passed away Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the Scott County Hospital. Born in New Floodwood, Ohio on January 9, 1935 he was the son of the late Ted and Edna Hughes. He was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church and a United States Marine veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: three infant brothers, and one son Russel Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Pat Thompson Hughes; his children, Jerry Jr. Hughes and wife Melisa, Jeff Hughes and wife Marsha all of Dayton, Ohio, Traci Lowe of Lafollette, Tennessee, Mark Manis and wife Shanna of Atlanta, Georgia, Nick Manis and wife Donna of Oneida, Derek Manis of Atlanta, Georgia, and Stacey Manis Chambers and husband John of Robbins; sisters, Beatrice Jones, Charlotte Kinnison, and Wanda Bell all of Nelsonville, Ohio, and Dorothy Phillippe of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Wesley Hughes of Huber Heights, Ohio; grandchildren, Leslie, Chasity and Rachel Hughes, Jessica Hughes, Tri! sh and Michael Hughes, Jayson Hughes, Leslie Manis, Andrew Manis, Seth Manis, Corey Manis, Tucker Manis, Eli Manis, Isaac Manis, Jacob Manis, Luke Manis, Jonathan Manis, Whitney Manis, Rowdy Chambers, Josey Chambers, Gracie Chambers, and Andrea Letner. He also leaves other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 11 A.M. at the New Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Serving as pallbearers: John Thompson, James Thompson, John Chambers, Andrew Manis, Virgil Reed, and Kefer Goad. Honorary pallbearers: Tom West, Rowdy Chambers, Josey Chambers, Seth Manis, Corey Manis, Isaac Manis, and Jacob Manis.
