From The Oak Ridger 16 Sep 2004 James Edward Borum, 87, of Oliver Springs, Daniel Blueford Braden, 78, of Oliver Springs, Zack T. McCabe, 80, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Kingston, James Edward Borum, 87, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004. Born Aug. 11, 1917, in Oliver Springs, he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was also a beloved husband, father, pawpaw and friend to all who knew him, his family said. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and retired from Union Carbide in 1982. Mr. Borum was preceded in death by his parents, Roy H. Borum Sr. and Mattie Crass Borum; his brother, Lawrence Borum; and sisters, Ruth Bell, Alice Childs and Lela Mae Parten. He is survived by his wife, Etta Borum, of Oliver Springs; sons, Ron Borum and wife, Tammy, of Harriman, and Mike Borum and wife, Edna, of Halls; his daughter, Gloria Borum, of Knoxville; grandchildren, Travis, Jamie Melia and Brooklynn Borum, Josh and Heather Hensley and Courtney and Dakota Workman; his brother, Roy Borum and wife, Phyllis, of Oliver Springs; sisters, Mattie Lou Lee, of Oliver Springs, and Edna Acuff and husband, Bill, of Solway. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bob Parten, of Oliver Springs; sisters-in-law, Della Morrison and husband, Bill, Dot Borum, Ruth Blair and Rena Rayfield; and several nieces, nephews and a very special friend, Wendy Pullen. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Windwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton for their kind and compassionate treatment during his stay and illness, as well as Adventa Hospice of Knoxville. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls and the Rev. Keith Price officiating. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Daniel Blueford Braden, 78, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. Born Aug. 6, 1926, in Oliver Springs, he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a deacon and member of Beech Park Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. Mr. Braden loved the youth of Beech Park and was considered as Paw Pa, his family said. He retired from the Y-12 plant of Oak Ridge in 1994, where he worked as a chemical operator. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis C. Braden and Callie Vann Braden; two brothers, Cherrel E. Braden and Dennis R. Braden; an infant sister, Ruby Braden and a son-in-law, Billy J. Franklin. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue H. Braden, of Oliver Springs; daughters, Dana B. Franklin, of Acworth, Ga., Taynia Thornton and husband, Mike, of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Kristi B. Wilson and husband, Steve, of Acworth, Ga., Courtney Jolynn Thorton and Joseph Quinten Thornton, both of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by a great-great-grandson, Blake L. Wilson; a sister, Annie Gallahar, of Oliver Springs; brothers, Eldon Braden and wife, JoAnn, of Oliver Springs, Richard Braden and wife, Aileen, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., Lester Braden, of Allen Park, Mich. and L.C. Braden and wife, Leoria, of Ewing, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition, he considered Deborah Ringley and Mary Charles Stewart and her husband, Larry, as his own children, his family said. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Beech Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Leach and the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the church. He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War II, serving bombing squadron company No. 107. Mr. McCabe was preceded in death by his parents, Wasson and Willie Martin McCabe, of Spring City; his wife, Martha Knight McCabe; his brothers, Nick, Homer and Jim McCabe; and his sisters, Nola Hawkins, Anna Ruth and Ruby Cleo McCabe. He is survived by his wife, Ruth McCabe, of Oak Ridge; three daughters, Linda Smith, Janice Poland and husband, Ronnie, all of Kingston, and Cheryl Yonkus and husband, Ray, of Carmel, Ind.; two sons, Larry McCabe and wife, Debra, of Oliver Springs, and David Gambrel and wife, Martha, of Middlesboro, Ky.; three brothers, Charlie McCabe, of Long Lane, Mo., Logan McCabe, of Newark, Calif., and George McCabe, of Spring City; sisters, Callie Cook and Joann Beach, both of Long Lane, Mo., Mary Mitchell, Gladys Owen and Wanda Fulmer, all of Spring City; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service, with military rites by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Roane Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ronnie Nickell officiating.
