STANCELL, WALTER FURMAN - 81 of Knoxville, Karn's Community, DAVIS, ARLIE C. - age 98, of LaFollette, born Sept. 15, 1905, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004. She was the oldest member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in W.M.U. Preceded in death by husband, Rev. Richard Baxter Davis; sons, Edward & Ray Davis. Survivors: daughter & husband: Linda & David Byrd, Powell; sons & wives: Richard & Lydia Davis, LaFollette; Roy & Peggy Davis, Alcoa; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; special friend: Donna Kibler. He was retired from State of Tennessee Department of Revenue and later worked as a "Red Coat" at the Civic Coliseum. He was a 50 year member of LaFollette Lodge F&AM. He was a Veteran of U.S. Army. Survived by: wife of 54 years, Anna Smith Jones; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Scott Lawson; son, Terry Jones; grandsons, Patrick and wife Caroline Lawson, Matthew Lawson, Zachary Lawson, Bradley Jones; granddaughter, Kelsie Jones; great granddaughter, Madeline Lawson, all of Knoxville; brothers, Wayne Jones of Knoxville, Clifton (Tip) Jones of LaFollette, TN; sisters, Aileen Sharpe of Knoxville, Mary Goins of LaFollette, TN; several nieces and nephews. MILLER, RICHARD NEAL "DICK" - age 70 of Oneida, Tenn., passed away suddenly Thursday morning, September 2, at his home. He was born in Dover, Ohio on August 6, 1934 to the late Harold G. Miller and Helen Peddler Miller. He was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover, Ohio, member and Past Master of the Oneida Lodge 695, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Shriner with Kerbela Temple. He served in the United States Navy for two years and retired from the US Coast Guard. Dick was the owner and operator of McDonalds in Oneida celebrating 30 years of service. Dick was a loving and devoted husband, Dad, Papaw and Great Papaw. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. His hobby was to go four wheeling with his friends when he had time and was a member of the Mountain ATV Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step mother, Charlotte Wiemer; wife, Doris Taylor Miller and great grandson, Zackery Hamilton. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kathern (Kitty) Miller; his seven children, sons, Augie Mattheiss and wife, Joanna of Columbia, MD, Warren Ellis and wife, Michelle, Paul Ellis and fiancé, Sherri Powell, Ronald Ellis and wife, Tammy and Donald Ellis and wife, Becky all of Oneida; daughters, Ruthie Walker and husband, Wade of Helenwood, Tenn., Sharon Kinney and husband, Steve of Fairfield, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also leaves other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday September 5 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Kazee officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery with full military honors by the Campbell County Color Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8:30 p.m. with Masonic services by Oneida Masonic Lodge 695 following at 8:30 p.m. at Jones & Son Funeral Home. STANCELL, WALTER FURMAN - 81 of Knoxville, Karn's Community, passed away on September 2, 2004. He was retired from Union Carbide as a pipe fitter at the Y-12 facility in Oak Ridge and also a member of the Pipe Fitters Local 718. He also attended Solway Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: wife, Clara Stancell. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law Annette and Bill Hurst; sons and daughters-in-law Harold and Libby Stancell and Doug and Lynda Stancell all of Knoxville; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. Mr. Stancell was born in South Carolina. His careers consisted of employment in the Charleston Navy yard and at the Oak Ridge Y-12 plant. He enjoyed constructing home projects, camping in the mountains, and going to the beach. Pallbearers for the interment will be his grandsons. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Weaver Chapel. The service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ray Buchanan and Bill Dean officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Ridge Memorial Park at 3:30 p.m. following the service.
