From The Knoxville News Sentinel 28 Sep 2004 HATMAKER, FRED - age 99, of Caryville, TN, HOWARD, KENNETH J. - age 80 of Harriman, RHODES, MELVIN - age 78 of Clinton, TN, WILSON, CLARA OILEEN - age 84 of LaFollette, HATMAKER, FRED - age 99, of Caryville, TN, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Lake City Health Care Center. He was born September 22, 1905 in the Murrayville Community of Campbell County, TN to the late Eligah and Parlie Lindsay Hatmaker. He was of the Baptist faith. Fred was owner of Lake City Auto Parts, known locally as Hatmaker's Junkyard, for more than 30 years. He is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Lucille Sellers Hatmaker. Survivors: sons & daughters-in-law, Ottis Hatmaker & Janet, Noblesville, IN, Harold Hatmaker & Carol, Lake City; daughter & son-in-law, Carolyn Cox & Bruce, Caryville; grandchildren, Glenn Hatmaker & wife Betty, Indianapolis, IN, David Hatmaker & wife Chalyn, Anderson, IN, Kathryn Gipson & husband Brad, Zionsville, IN, Wendi Arnold & husband Gary, Knoxville, TN, Kevin Blue, Lake City, TN; great grandchildren, Brandon, Koty, D.J. & Brendon Hatmaker, David, Dylan, Daniel Arnold, Jack & Sam Gipson; sisters, Myrtle Bell Vinsant, Jacksboro, Belvia Silva, Harriman. HOWARD, KENNETH J. - age 80 of Harriman, passed away Saturday September 25, 2004 at St Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He was preceded in death by: parents, Carson & Stella Howard; brother, Harold Howard. Survivors: wife, Gladys Howard of Harriman; sons, Dennis Howard of Knoxville, Bryan Howard of Knoxville; granddaughter, Ashley Howard of Kingston; grandson, George Howard of Kingston; step sister, DeReta Renfro of Rockwood. Funeral 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Kyker Funeral Home Chapel in Harriman with Pete Scarbrough officiating. Interment in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Wartburg, with full military honors by the Roane County Military Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman. RHODES, MELVIN - age 78 of Clinton, TN, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at the Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN. Melvin was a WWII Veteran, and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Efrid Rhodes; second wife Judy Rhodes; parents Charles and Gladys Rhodes. Survivors, son, Michael and wife Roslind Rhodes of Louisville, TN; daughters, Vicki and husband Chad Hunckler of Melbourne, FL, Angie Hunckler; brother, Charles Rhodes of California; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN, funeral service will be Wednesday, September 29 @ 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with the Rev. David Trantanella officiating. The interment will follow funeral service on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at the Sunset Cemetery in Clinton, TN, Jones Mortuary in Clinton, TN, in charge of all arrangements. WILSON, CLARA OILEEN - age 84 of LaFollette, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the St. Mary's Health and Rehab Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Independent Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilson loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed flowers and sewing as her hobbies. She was preceded in death by: parents, Arthur and Betty Chadwick Hatmaker; brothers, Ed, Lawrence and Raymond Hatmaker; sisters, Mae Benson, Susie Ogle, Mary Sharp, and Edna Moffett. Mrs. Wilson is survived by: daughters, Doris and husband, Richard Beach of Jacksboro; Lucy Wilson of LaFollette; a special grandson, Jason Woods; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm Tuesday, September 28th at Martin Wilson Funeral Home, Reverend Ronnie Arnold officiating. Internment 11:00 am Wednesday, September 29th at Campbell Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm Tuesday September 28th at Martin Wilson Funeral Home.
