From The Oak Ridger 29 Sep 2004 Louis Marshall Fitzgerald, 77, of Oak Ridge, Sam Rose, 84, of the Dyllis community in Roane County, Louis Marshall Fitzgerald, 77, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at the NHC HealthCare Center of Oak Ridge. Born May 3, 1927, in Burnside, Ky., he was the son of John Marshall and Lena Hardwick Fitzgerald. He served with the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1947. Mr. Fitzgerald retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems in 1993 after 42 years of service. He was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Oscar Lee Fitzgerald, and a grandson, Christopher Neil Smith. Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his daughters, Marsha Smith of Oak Ridge, and Linda Gover and husband, John, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; his sister, Dora Gover and husband, Robert, of Bowling Green, Ky.; his grandson, Michael Jeremy Smith and wife, Melanie, of Oak Ridge; his great-grandchildren, Sydney Smith and Caitlyn Smith, both of Oak Ridge; and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Dr. Michael Prince officiating. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the Garden of Valor at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be in the form on donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 Sutherland Ave., Knoxville, TN 37919.
