From The Oak Ridger 14 Sep 2004 Martin "Bud" Franklin Jr., 80, of Oak Ridge, Teddy M. Martin, 57, of Clinton, Brenda June French, 60, of Swansea, S.C., formerly of Oliver Springs, Martin "Bud" Franklin Jr., 80, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 24, 1923, in Drill, Va., he was the son of Martin and Anna Franklin. He retired as a chemical operator at Union Carbide Corp. in 1981. He also worked with Boeing Inc. until 1992. "Bud," as he was known by many, enjoyed fishing and coaching football at the Oak Ridge Boys Club, according to his family. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 1316. He served as governor of the Lodge for several years. He especially enjoyed the company of his special grandson, Cody. "Bud will be greatly missed by all," his family said. In addition to his parents, Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by a brother, William A. Franklin, and a sister, Lucille Morelock. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Bartlett Franklin; two sons, Shawn Andrew Franklin and Kitric Allan Franklin, both of Oak Ridge; five brothers, Oscar Franklin and his wife, Jerry, of Cleveland, Bobby Franklin and his wife, Barbara, Jimmy Franklin and his wife, Maxine, all of Somerset, Ky., Harrison E. Franklin and his wife, Ruth, of St. Peters, Mo., and Glenn T. Franklin and his wife, Audrey, of Thonotosassa, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Franklin, of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Peggy Gray, of Seffner, Fla., and Jackie Strickland, of Callahan, Fla.; one grandchild, Cody Andrew Franklin; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and a several other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Royce Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Burial of the ashes will follow the service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Oak Ridge Boys Club, P.O. Box 4021, Oak Ridge, TN 37831 or Royce Baptist Church, 131 LaSalle Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Martin, 57, of Clinton, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Martin; his parents, Roy and Nettie Martin; and his brothers, Wayne Martin and Dwight Cook. He is survived by his son, Teddy M. Martin Jr. and wife, Gina, of California; his daughters, Roya Mitchell and husband, Daniel, of Oak Ridge, Tennie Martin and Tracy Johnson, both of Clinton, and Toni Martin, of Philadelphia, Pa.; his brother, Patrick Martin, of Clinton; his sisters, Lynda Lowe, of Atlanta, Ga. and Jackie Eichelberger. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lucas Williams, of Claxton, Teddy James Martin, and Bradley Roy Martin, both of California, Kyle Karpinski, of Philadelphia, Pa., Roya Herlle, of Pennsylvania, Matthew Marsh, Miranda Marsh, and Marc Marsh, all of Clinton; and by special nieces and nephews, Jessica Theis, of Colorado, Meghan Lowe, and Phillip Lowe, both of Atlanta, and Josh Martin, of Clinton. All services will be private. Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of arrangements. Brenda June French, 60, of Swansea, S.C., formerly of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, in Greenville.
