He was of Church of God faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Millard H. Blackwell; wife of 40 years, Elizabeth. He is survived by his mother, Gladys Blackwell of Caryville; sister, Sue Simpson and husband, Luster of Caryville; brother, Charles Ray Blackwell and wife, Virginia of Caryville; son, Merle Jr., of Baltimore; a host of relatives and friends. Brown, age 57 of Knoxville, formerly of the New River Community went home to be with Jesus on Dec. 4 at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born Nov. 28, 1947 in Anderson County to the late John and Cordella Carroll Brown. He was a member of the Son-Light Baptist Church in Knoxville. He loved bowling and was a big Tennessee Volunteer Fan and all sporting events. He also loved spending time with family and friends. He worked at Star Sales in Knoxville for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Unavee Byrge. He is survived by his sisters, Alavene and Bob Templin, Lake City, Angie and Jim Morales, Cross Junction, VA; brother, Jay and Grace Brown, Walland; nieces, Kasey Templin, Bethany Brown, Tammy Phillips, Cindy Sellers, Debby Bergeron and Crystal Morgan; nephews, Boyce Templin, Larry Brown, Jimmy Byrge, Timmy Byrge, Jason Byrge, Jamey Byrge, Douglas Stitt and Rick Stitt; special friends, Junior Ricker, Clayton Cox, Sammy Sawyer, Earl Keyes, Rev. Lonnie "Jim" Carroll, age 52 of LaFollette died Dec. 6 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member of the Grantsboro Baptist Church. He enjoyed being a help to others and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Rebecca Goslin Davis; sister, Tina Russell. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ward, Caryville; sister, Be tty Riseden of Sweet Water; grandchildren, Zendell, Kevin, Marvin, Scott and Jessie Ward; nine great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Joseph Paul Faulkner, age 75 of Chattanooga died Nov. 29 in a local hospital. He was a faithful member and deacon of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church as well as a member of the James Sunday School Class. He was born Feb. 25, 1929 in Chattanooga, but soon after he and his family moved to Jellico. While growing up in Jellico he attended Jellico High School, where he served as captain of the football team and from where he graduated in 1949. While living in Jellico he served as an active member and as a deacon of the First Baptist Church. In the early 1970's he was a member of the Campbell County School Board and Chairman of the Election Commission. He was 32nd degree Mason of the Jellico Lodge #527 F&AM, after moving to Chattanooga he transferred his membership to the Whorley Lodge #601 F&AM, and was also a member of the Alhambra Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Faulkner and Dusta Leasch Faulkner; siblings, Martha Faulkner, Jimmy Faulkner, Robert Lee Faulkner, Sr., Mary Cate and Johnny Faulkner. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Mays Faulkner; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret F. and William R. Long, Sr.; daughter, Madeline F. Ellis; grandchildren, Kimberly Long Baucom and husband, Bradley E. Baucom, William J. Long, Jr. and wife, Amanda J. Long, Tamara Jo Ellis and Justin Joe Ellis, both of Chattanooga; sister, Clara Beair, Springfield, OH; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the East LaFollette Baptist Church and retired from Imperial Reading Corporation with over 40 years of service. She was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church. She was retired from Imperial Reading after many years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Whit and Mary Ann Miller Goins. She is survived by her brother, Jess Goins of LaFollette; sister, Ruby Miller, Aileen Leach, both of LaFollette and Lois Sharp of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. He was member of the Glade Springs Baptist Church, U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked at LaFollette Utilities for 18 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Boccia Goins; parents, Onie and Nancy Lucille Paul Goins; brothers, Rev. Gene Goins and J. Will Goins; sister, Jennie Vinsant. He was born in Caryville on Oct. 22, 1917 to Howard and Rhoda (Bullock) McGhee. He had retired from General Motors in 1981 after 27 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church and served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis in 1969; sisters, Myrtle Ward, Alice McGhee and brother: Charlie McGhee.
