From The Knoxville News Sentinel 18 Apr 2004 BARNES, J.C. - MULLINS, GLADYS F. - age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, ROBERTS, HUEL GLEN - age 62 of Oak Ridge, and formerly of Lake City, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ BARNES, J.C. - went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 16, 2004. He was a faithful member of Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church and was dearly loved by everyone who knew him. He was a World War II Hero, a recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Bronze Stars and will forever remain a Hero to his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Barnes; father, Arthur Barnes; brothers, Morris Barnes, Carl Barnes and Buster Underwood; sisters, Maggie Underwood and Madge Hooks. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Maxine Barnes; his devoted children, Roger and Angie Barnes, Mike and Tonita Barnes and Bob and Diane Hellmann; his wonderful grandchildren, Catrina Barnes, Jennifer and Steve Smith, Jayson and Patty Barnes, Natalie Barnes and Timmy Phillips, Elizabeth Barnes, Nick Barnes, Christopher Hellmann, C.J. and Natalie Hill and Pam Hill. He also leaves behind six precious great-grandchildren, Aaron Barnes, Kylah Barnes, Edwin Heinz, Chase, Case and Caleb Hill; three sisters, Inez Poole, Margie Edwards and Josie Barnes and a multitude of other family members and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 18, 2004 from 6-8 pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services will be held on Monday, 1 pm at Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Webb and Mike Barnes officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Lane Cemetery in Lancing. MULLINS, GLADYS F. - age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 17, 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Freels and Sudie Messer Freels; by her husband, Lonas Hayes Mullins; by a daughter, Beatrice Francis; and by a grandson, Denny Johnson; by sisters, Nannie Gentry, Abbie Rickett, Louise Seiber, Linda Miles, Jo Ann Mires, and Viola Letner; by brothers, Earl, Jess, and Frank Freels. Mrs. Mullins was retired from the Indiana Soldiers Home Hospital. She was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved visiting with her family and friends. Survivors: daughter, Allene Ragle and husband, Clyde of Knoxville; son in law, Bill Francis of Cortez, Colo.; grandchildren, Allen Ragle and wife, Katherine of Knoxville, Doug Johnson and wife, Shari of Lebanon, Ind., Greg Francis of Cortez, Colo., Denise Kriss and husband, Brian of Ocala, Fla., Angela Robbins and husband, Steve of Knoxville; 10 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Blanch Halburnt of Wartburg, Annie Rickett of Clinton, Ethel Ward of Oliver Springs, Bessie Gilmore of Harriman, Alice Goodman of Windrock; brother, Lonas Freels of Oliver Springs; sisters in law, Goldie Hembree of Wartburg, Louverna Tinker of Coalfield, Helen Freels of Oliver Springs, Violet Freels of Oliver Springs. The Mullins family wishes to extend their appreciation to the nurses and caregivers of Covenant Homecare Hospice of Middlebrook Pike for their caring, comfort and compassion during her long illness. The family will receive friends Monday, April 19, 2004 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home with funeral services following. Rev. Wayne Morgan, Rev. Benny Braden and Rev. John Shaw will officiate. Burial and graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. ROBERTS, HUEL GLEN - age 62 of Oak Ridge, and formerly of Lake City, lost a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, April 16, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist church. Glen was owner and operator of Styles By Glen in Oak Ridge for 31 years. Preceded in death by parents Huel Blake and Edith Colleen Roberts of Lake City. He is survived by children Serita Roberts Stamps and son-in-law Tyler of Cookeville, TN; Yvette Roberts of Oak Ridge, TN; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Jennifer Rowell of Goodlettsville, TN; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Mark Barker of Powell, TN; Four grandchildren, Avery and Tanner Stamps, Sara Rowell, and Taylor Lyon; Sisters Helen Roberts of Oak Ridge, Deborah Woodson of Lafollette, and Lou Ann Tackett of Lake City; Brother Benny Roberts of Lake City and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was an avid fisherman and currently holds the World Record with the International Game and Fish Association. He leaves a deep void with his fishing friends and his Monday golfing buddies of 30 years. He leaves behind a host of lifetime and special friends and clients who will miss him tremendously. Glen was our fun maker and loved by all; Special thanks to Dr. John T. Foust and the staff on 4- West at Methodist Medical Center for their extra special care and support. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 19, 2004 at 8:00 pm at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Larry Watts officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
