My husband's great grandmother was Alice Elizabeth Bruce from South Carolina. She died in Paris, TN. Her father was Francis Marion Bruce and her mother was Jocie (last name unknown). I haven't run upon any Daniels in her family yet though. I can tell you that the majority of the Bruce family that my husband is descended from were in Anderson County, South Carolina and were Confederate soldiers, some even owning slaves. The Bruce family can be traced back to Augusta, Virginia and finally back to Kinnard, Scotland where they descend from the rebels that fought for Scotland's freedom from England. The Bruces from South Carlina migrated to Grayson County, Texas and back to Tennessee--or at least my husband's family did! Hopefully this will help. If you need some more info I can just a few more names, but maybe that would help. Jennifer Ayers **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food. Tough to respond to these gateway'd messages where there is no one to send it to. I believe Ellison's obituary is in the rootsweb archive. It appeared in the Knoxville and Campbell Co newspapers. His ancestral line goes back to Massachusetts, arriving ten years after the Pilgrims and then back to England, apparently in Yorkshire in the 1590s. I have been looking for theses marriages for a long time. Seems like Flora must have been married before James Rose. What a great help you have been. Like I said I think every Webb in Campbell and Anderson Co. are related to my Webb's I am researching. Then I started out with the four Webb's in Anderson Co., in 1930 and they were father and sons. Again thank you so much. I got the Hatfield Martin Funeral Home book that just came out and I also have Martin 1941-1956 and Cox and Son formerly Elison 1945-1967 if you should need any look ups I would be glad to do so. Can anyone please check Ancestry.com and see if there are any Webb marriages in Campbell Co., TN. Thanks so much.
I recently re-subscribed to Ancestry.com to check out the new Tennessee marriage records from 1780-2002. I found my grandparent's marriage record. It appears to be a log book with the heading "Marriage License Record, Campbell County, TENN." My grandparents were married in 1930. On the block where there marriage is recorded a notation that says Court Order 10-4-48 is also logged. Both grandparents are deceased so I cannot ask them. Does anyone know where and how I may be able to find out what that court order may have been? My grandfather's first name and my grandmother's middle name appear to have been added to the record after the original recording. My husband, who is not even into genealogy, came up with an excellent guess, but I would like to verify it if possible. His thought was that their full legal names had to be shown in order to apply for social security numbers. Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Charlene
