    2. Does anyone have info. regarding a 'Delayed' death cert.? I have a cert. stamped 'Delayed' which has precious little info. on it; it does have a lot of "unknowns" on it. Does anyone know if a delayed death cert. has to be applied for, who would apply for it, and would there be a record of it?

    1. Re: [TNCAMPBE] 'Delayed' Death Cert.
    2. I am not real sure what your asking..but a delayed DC and even a delayed BC is when the information is given at a later time. my understanding is...years back someone may not have even had a BC.. reason being..birth took place at home with maybe a friend or relative standing by to help in any way they could...later if that person was within the time to apply for SS they needed this info..so a delayed certif was applied for..giving as much info as the person knew..years being sometimes between the actual birth and application. A delayed death record can be that the attending physician if there was one..did not fill out all paper work ASAP..but may have waited to do so when he returned home, being they traveled to homes back then. or when he went to town to register the actual death...a lot of time this info was also given days, weeks..etc after the death.. and sometimes by a family member so a lot of the info is guessed upon. I assume the certif was applied for as any other certif was applied for back then,,,but just done later after the fact. I hope that helped in some way.. deb In a message dated 5/30/2008 8:02:37 A.M.
