I have the following description on the location of a cemetery in Campbell/Scott County. Is there someone on this list familiar with the area that could give me more information about this. It is about a six hour drive for me to get to Campbell county. Since I don't know the area that this refers to, I am hoping someone can tell me more. Hearsay, Henry Gibson buried in neighborhood where he lived on Stinking Creek Road about 3 miles from Virgie Gibson's house - grave yard- buried near a path in Charlie Hollow Road- road turns to right at Ed McCullough's house- you cross over a big bridge as you go into Charlie Hollow- possibly bulldozed by road stripping.
I found the 1910-1920 census on ancestry.com. I tried different spellings and ALL states. Maybe I shall try using just initals...Be right back..Nope//I tried the children also..no luck. Thank you Milly and Nancy for the info. It will help me a lot.
I can confirm the information from 1910 and 1920, but I, also, did not find them on the 1930 - despite a page-by-page trawl through the Appalachia Precinct (Town) of Richmond Magisterial Distrtict, Wise County Virginia - where they lived in 1920. Perhaps someone with the Ancestry.com census for 1930 could find them. Those, at least, are alphabetized.... I did find her family on the 1900 census (but not his...) Nancy, I have a few more question about these two families.... I have a Jeremiah Wilson born about 1797 in NC and died about 1870 Campbell County, Tn. I have that he was the son of Eli Wilson b. 1777 in NC and died about 1870 in Ray County, Mo. and Sarah Combs b. 1777 in Va. and d. 1870 Ray County, Mo. The Jeremiah that I have married Sarah Elizabeth Ridenour in Tn about 1814. I believe however, that the Jeremiah (Jerry) Wilson that you are referring to was the son of Levi Wilson a brother to the Jeremiah that I outlined above.. Are Fielding Cooper and Alvis Cooper connected to the family of John Cooper b. 1785 in Md. d. 1854 in Campbell County, Tn. and Hester Sage b. 1793 Grayson County, Va d. 1878 in Campbell County, Tn. ? Was Sterling Boshears connected to George Washington Boshears and Sarah Elizabeth Wilson? I have a connection to each of these surnames, Wilson, Boshears, Cooper, Jordan...maybe we can fill in a few blanks. Debbie **************Gas prices getting you down? Debbie, ???? I wasn't thinking last night when I was typing.? I remember now who Jane's parents were:? Fielding Cooper, (Son of Alvis) and Mary A. Moser.? As for Jerry Wilson, I do not have a clue.? The earliest I can find him is the 1860 census in Whitley County, KY.? He also had 2 daughters, Catherine, who married Sterling Boshears and Margaret, who married Maynard Lawson.? Margaret must have died prior to the 1860 census as she wasn't listed, just Maynard and their daughter Katherine. Sorry I couldn't help more. Meadie Jordan's parents were Rebecca Lawson and William Jordan, Sr.?? Mossie Wilson's parents were Levi Mack Wilson and Eliza Jane Cooper.? I do not hae anything else on William and Rebecca.? However, Levi Mack's father was Jeremiah (or Jerry) Wilson and not sure as to who his mother was, as I can not find a marriage record.? I can't remember Jane's parents right off hand.? I do know her mother was a Moser.? Mack and Jane's other children were:? Lucy, Albert, James, Elihue, Sarah, Benjamin (Dewey),and Eli.? Dewey and Eli were murdered in 1943 and are buried in the same grave in the Broyles II Cemetery in the Ivey Dell Community.? I have that Elihue was married 2x, once to Ida Hopson (Oct. 23, 1923 in Campbell County)? and Mary Walden (Sep 14, 1940 in Campbell County).? Ida died before he married Mary Walden, and I don't believe he and Mary had any? children. Does any of this help? Nancy Adkins Braden
This is part of my direct line.? I am related to both ?the Jordan's and the Wilson's.? My grandmother's maiden name was Wilson.? Mossie is my great grandfather's, James, sister.? Medy (or Meadie as we spell it) was my great great grandfather's brother.? I don't do much researching as of late, as my baby is due any day, so I try to do other things.? But I can help you in any way you may need.? It just may take me a day or two get back to you.? Mossie's parents were actually Levi Mack Wilson and Eliza Jane Cooper.? Lucy's husband Alexander went by the name of Jug.? I always thought that so funny.? Let me know if this helps any. You mentioned you do research on Walkers from Campbell Co. TN. I am descended from James S. Walker who I believe is the son of John and Sarah Walker of Campbell County and the older brother to Elijah Walker. The 1860 Census shows them (James S. and John/Sarah) living next door to one another, and the states where John and Sarah were born (VA/TN) match the states where James S Walker said his parents were born on the 1880 Census. The 1870 Census shows James and Elijah Walker living next door to one another. Too many things in common for me! In short, I wanted to see if your research confirmed that James S. Walker (he was married to Cynthia - sometimes spelled Synthia) was indeed the son of John and Sarah Walker. James's parents have been a major brick wall for me for sometime and I would really appreciate any confirmation (or any other info you might have on this family) you might be able to give. I'll be happy to share any information (limited as it is) that I have with you. Thank you in advance!
