TIMOTHY WILLIAM - age 34, of the Burrville community passed away suddenly at his home April 23, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Earl (Buddy) and Shirley Bohanan. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Marie (Cooper) Bohanan; children, Christoper William Bohanan, Wesley Earl Bohanan and Jessica Ann Bohanan; brother, Richard (Bud) and wife Kelly Bohanan of Knoxville; sister, Katherine Inman of Knoxville; father and mother-in-law, Clovis and Bridget Cooper of Burrville; sister and brother-in-law, Crystal and DeWayne Doss of Burrville; aunts and uncles, Sandy Hahn of Lenoir City, Barbara and Bill Beck of Seymour, June and Bob Setzkorn of Knoxville, Tn.; also several nieces, nephews and friends. GILBERT L. - age 76 of LaFollette passed away Monday, April 26, 2004, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. Preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Betty Carson, parents, Austin and Ida Carson, and by sister, Pauline West. He was former Chairman of the Campbell County Republican Party, a fifty year member of the Jellico Masonic Lodge #527 F. & A.M., and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors: Daughter, Melinda Powers and husband, Richard of Clinton. Sons, Rick Carson and wife, Elaine of Hixson, TN, Danny Carson and wife, Christine of LaFollette, James Carson and wife, Becky of Springsboro, OH, and Roger Carson and wife, Sara of Cleveland, TN. Ten Grandchildren. Brother, Delmon Carson of Louisville, KY. Special friends, Frank C. Agee and Arnold Ray Poteet, and longtime neighbors Millard and Cleo Queener all of LaFollette. Helen was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and friends. He was born November 16, 1919, in Roane Co., Tennessee to Lige Alexander and Kate Brackett. Mr. Alexander retired as foreman supervisor in chemical processing at Union Carbide Corporation at the K-25 plant after 37 years. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army Infantry in Belgium and Germany during World War II. His hobbies included fishing and hunting and he enjoyed helping widows and the disabled. He attended First Baptist Church and was a member of Oak Ridge Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael L. Alexander in 1994. Survivors include, wife, Willie Alexander of Oak Ridge; granddaughter, Melinda Alexander-Sejas and her husband Renato, of Miami, Florida; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Gordon of Ten Mile, Mary Kate Wicker and Janie Snyder of Loudon; brothers, Russell Alexander, Natchitoches, Louisiana and David Alexander of Sweetwater. WELCH, VIOLET SIMPSON - age 71 of Oak Ridge, formerly of Scott County, passed away Thursday, April 22 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Born in Winfield, Tenn., January 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Etta Wilson Simpson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Taskel Welch; three sisters, Eve Weaver, Libby Tudor and Edith Burress; and two special brothers in law, Alton Blakely and Bill Burress. She is survived by three children, Linda Freels of Oak Ridge, Diana Reed of Knoxville and Jack Phillips, II of Oak Ridge; one sister, Myrtle Blakely Lewis of Somerset, Ky.; one brother, Edward Simpson of Mountain Home, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; special nieces and nephew, Pat Hair of Oak Ridge, Cynthia Hickerson of Nashville and Al Blakely of Somerset, Ky. She also leaves many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 25 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home. ROBINSON, SARA BROCK LeHARDY - 81, of Oak Ridge died April 22, 2004 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Robinson was born July 10, 1922 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Mr. and Mrs. J.C. LeHardy. Sara was small in stature, but a very strong willed lady who was meticulous in speech, actions and her appearance. She graduated from University of Tennessee in 1943. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Kappa Phi sororities. She was also a member of the American Association for University Women and the Charles Dabney Society at the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Robinson worked briefly at one of the plants in Oak Ridge before her marriage to "Dr. Robbie." She was a loyal wife, mother and friend who because of her love for her husband and animals later helped Robbie by becoming the bookkeeper at the Oak Ridge Veterinary Hospital. She enjoyed home life, playing bridge, being with her friends in Daytime Dabblers, traveling with her husband and friends and eating out. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. L.K. "Robbie" Robinson on June 17, 1986 and a brother, Mr. W.G. Warren. Survivors include, a son, Jay Robinson and Brenda; nephews, Dr. and Mrs. W.E. Robinson of Oak Ridge, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Carico, Jr. of Chattanooga; aunt, Mrs. Paul Carico, Sr. of Chattanooga; nieces, Mrs. Ruth Lyons of Chattanooga, Mrs. Judy Feagin of Alabama, and Mrs. Jane Maloy of North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Robinson and Mr. John Robinson, all of Alabama; sister-in-law, Mrs. Artelle Warren of St. Petersburg, Florida. The marriage took place in 1895 or 1894 in Campbell *I think* for the following: William Riggs to Louvenia Wright This William Riggs later married Sally Ann Wright along about 1905 in Campbell. William and Louvenia had a daughter named Eppie or Eppile L. Riggs who married a James *something* I found Eppie in the 1910 census married but James' last name is nigh on unreadable. They (James and Eppie) had been married only a year so that would be 1909. Eppie's sister was named Pearl b. about 1901 but I have no idea who Pearl may have married. A BIG thank you in advance!!     2. From The Oak Ridger 20 Apr 2004 Frank R. Cullaty, 89, Betty Jo Duncan, 71, of the Dutch Valley community, John A. Kapral, 89, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\ Frank R. Cullaty, 89, died Monday, April 19, 2004. He was a veteran engineer for the Atomic Energy Commission in Oak Ridge and one of Oak Ridge's early residents. Mr. Cullaty retired in 1974 after more than 34 years of government service. Prior to retirement, he was a program analyst for the AEC's Oak Ridge Operations in the production and uranium enrichment operations division. After beginning his government service in 1941 with the U.S. Engineering District in Rome, N.Y., Mr. Cullaty, who was a native of New York, N.Y., was transferred from the Rome Air Depot to the Pennsylvania Ordinance Works in Williamsport, Pa., with Lt. Col. Kenneth D. Nichols who was the project manager. He was then transferred with Lt. Col. Nichols to the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, in May 1943 when construction of Oak Ridge facilities was in its early stage. Initially he assisted in providing housing for project workers and later was assigned engineering responsibilities in development of the Y-12 Plant electromagnetic separation facilities for the enrichment of uranium. Mr. Cullaty earned his engineering degree from the College of the City of New York. Prior to joining the AEC in 1947, Mr. Cullaty worked for some two years on a special assignment in compiling data for the history of the Manhattan Engineer District project. Mr. Cullaty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a charter member of the Elks Lodge No. 1684, and the Knights of Columbus of Oak Ridge. His family said he enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf and cards. Upon his retirement from the government, he and his wife traveled extensively in all the states and abroad. Mr. Cullaty is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy "Dottie" Cullaty; three daughters, Mary Ann Hamel and husband, Steve, of Oak Ridge, Kandy Hayden and husband, John, of Huntsville, Ala., and Margaret Howell and husband, Kenneth, of Yadkinville, N.C.; two sons, John Cullaty and wife, Lynn, of Johnson City and Robert Cullaty and wife, Sherrie, of Radford, Va.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Carlsen, Kris Brown, Karen Hayden, Matthew Hayden, David Hayden, Brian Cullaty, Ashley Cullaty and Julia Howell; and by a great-grandchild, Grace Carlsen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harding Duncan Sr.; a son, Thomas Allen Duncan; and by a sister, Jean Sharp. John A. Kapral, 89, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Aug. 22, 1914, in Batizovce, Czechoslovkia, he was the son of Joannes "Jon" A. and Appoloni N. Jeszercsak "Pauline" Kapral. He immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1925 and settled in Westfield, Mass. He graduated from Westfield High School in 1933 with honors. Mr. Kapral first entered the military service on July 18, 1934, in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and served until July 17, 1937. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on Aug. 30, 1937, and served continuously since that date. He graduated from officer candidate school on March 4, 1944, and served in commissioned status until Oct. 13, 1953, attaining the rank of captain. He was promoted to the grade of major, Air Force Reserve, on July 1, 1958. He was promoted to the grade of chief warrant officer, W4 effective Nov. 16, 1960. Mr. Kapral served overseas in the Caribbean Theater, Far East, South Pacific and the British Isles. He was presented the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with Two Silver Oak Leaf Clusters and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. After discharge from service in 1964, Mr. Kapral was employed by Federal Electric, Cape Canaveral, Fla., for five years. In 1970, he moved to Oak Ridge and was employed by Union Carbide at the Oak Ridge Y- 12 Plant in the Electrical Engineering Department and retired from there in 1980. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. According to his family, Mr. Kapral enjoyed playing pool at the Oak Ridge Senior Center, where he won several trophies in pool tournaments. He was also a member of the Swift Aircraft Association and was a private pilot owning three of the Swift Airplanes through the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Kapral Gregor and Anna Kapral; two brothers, Frank Kapral and infant brother Kapral. He was a World War II Hero, a recipient of the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Bronze Stars and will forever remain a Hero to his family. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Maxine Barnes; his devoted children, Roger and Angie Barnes, Mike and Tonita Barnes and Bob and Diane Hellmann; his wonderful grandchildren, Catrina Barnes, Jennifer and Steve Smith, Jayson and Patty Barnes, Natalie Barnes and Timmy Phillips, Elizabeth Barnes, Nick Barnes, Christopher Hellmann, C.J. and Natalie Hill and Pam Hill. He also leaves behind six precious great-grandchildren, Aaron Barnes, Kylah Barnes, Edwin Heinz, Chase, Case and Caleb Hill; three sisters, Inez Poole, Margie Edwards and Josie Barnes and a multitude of other family members and friends. When he moved to Palm Bay, he joined St. Joseph's Catholic Church and became active in the Knights of Columbus there. Charles William Kimbro, 74, a native of Harriman, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Wash. Born Feb. 8, 1930, in Roane County, he was the son of Earl and Blanche Rowan Kimbro. He attended Jamison Junior High School in Harriman. He went to Saginaw, Mich., to learn a trade and while there he lived with his uncle and aunt, William and Edna Rowan. Upon returning to Tennessee, he worked for Tennessee Valley Authority. Mr. Kimbro enjoyed music and played three instruments. He was offered the job of lead singer and playing in a band in Grand Rapids, Mich. According to his family, this talent took him all around the world. When his health began to fail, he retired to Suquamish, Wash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Rowan Sr. and James Earl and "Ma" Alice Kimbro. He was a member of Fincastle United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee in the early days of the church. He was a Campbell County native and attended 5 schools to achieve his education: Speedwell Academy, Flat Hollow, Bolinger, Well Springs and LaFollette. He held in high regard his horse "Bill" which he rode to school. He founded Carr Equipment Company, a dealership for GMC Trucks, Massey Ferguson Tractors and New Holland Farm Machinery. He was a former member of Campbell County School Board of Education and owned and operated Campbell County school buses. He enjoyed investing in land and real estate and loved spending his winters in the warm sunshine of Naples, Florida, which he said, "is better than a doctor bill."
