A Greenville native, he was the son of Jacqueline Bryant and the late Linley and Sarah Blue. Mr. Blue is survived by his wife, Kathleen Blue, of Oak Ridge; his daughter, Sarah Blue, of Oak Ridge; his son, John Blue, of Oak Ridge; four sisters, Teresa Richard and husband, Claude, of Norcross, Ga., Victoria Bryant of Morristown, and Faye Lollar and Lenoir Hamilton, both of Greenville; and by three brothers, Gary Blue and wife, Patsy, of Knoxville, Micheal Bryant of Morristown and Harold Bryant of New York, N.Y. He was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church in Heiskell. Mr. Jennings retired after 23 years of service in the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment. He also retired after 32 years with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Lynn Jennings, and by his daughter, Sandra Lee Kelly. Born June 19, 1930, in Oliver Springs, he was the son of Frank Brooks Sr. and Texas Wilson Brooks. He had lived in this area all of his life. He was a faithful member of Batley Baptist Church. Mr. Brooks worked with several contractors for the K-33 and K-25 buildings in Oak Ridge before being employed with MSI for 18 years in both Oak Ridge and Huntsville, Ala., with the NASA Space Program. He retired from the city of Oak Ridge after 20 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jessie Brooks and Conda Brooks, and by four sisters, Odessa Hudson, Anna Mae Andrews, Beulah Shultz and Bertha Brooks. Her family said she was a life master at bridge, an excellent cook and she loved to entertain, especially for family functions. She was a founding member of Kern United Methodist Church. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, he went to Lexington, Ky., to live as a child. He received his early education in the Lexington school system. After enrolling at the University of Kentucky, Mr. Neal was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was in the ASTP training program in Vermillion, S.D. During the Battle of the Bulge, he was assigned as a replacement to the "Timberwolf" section of the 104th Infantry Division. After World War II, he completed his degree and graduate work at the University of Kentucky. It goes without saying, he was a faithful and loyal fan of the "Big Blue" basketball team and was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee football team, his family said. Mr. Neal retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after 41 years of service. He was a metallurgical engineer in the Barrier Development Division. His family said he was an avid reader and loved classical music. He was a reader for the Recording For The Blind and Dyslexic Inc., having read over 1,000 hours. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Choir for over 50 years and was a deacon, chairman of music committees and held various other positions. He was a member of the Community Choir for a number of years. According to his family, Mr. Neal was the last survivor of the James and Laura Baker Neal family. He had three older brothers, James B. He was content with the simple things in life and believed in values of honesty, hard work and letting your word be your bond, his family said. I don't see a James York in the 2TN INF but I do see a Cage York in that Unit, in fact he is the only YORK. Hi, Does anyone know anything about George W. Smith who married 1st Julia Ann Smith in 1845 in Campbell Co., TN. The had twins: James Sterling Smith and Ailsey Jane Smith. He married 2nd Louisa _____ (b. ca1840) and the had a daughter Lasaphine Smith (b. ca1872), I think. George died about 1878, I believe. Does anyone know who the 2nd wife Louisa was?
