Hi Lists I am sending this letter to see if anyone can help Stacey.. Her email addie morgana112167@hotmail.com Hi Milly, My name is Stacey Hood-Marchig. I got your e-mail from a Hood board & thought you may be able to help me w/these crazy Hood's. I have a Millard Hood b.9/28/1874-5 d.5/11/1948 m. Sarah Elizabeth Smith b.11/25/1875 d.5/8/1959. I traced the family & kids thru 1900, 10 & 20 census's. In the 1880 census he's 5 & has quite a few sibs. Parents are John44 & Nancy28. In the same dist. but census # b4 them are Elisha71(m) & Sarah70 Hood. John's parents? Same dist. but census # below is Jeremiah55 & Nancy47, perhaps a brother to John? My dates for Millard & Sarah came from the Hood bible & census. Their marriage date may be 1/28/1893 "in the home of John Hicks" in Keese TN. I found that in a Gazzette on microfilm announcement listing. It needs verification, as Millards name was spelled MillER. In my endless pursiut of these folks, I cannot recall ever having seen a "miller" Hood. I've only seen Millard a few times. Oral tradition stated Millard married a cherokee woman & they didn't see much of that side of the family. Lord knows I've been through the Roll books-Sarah Eliz. is not listed. I was looking more for Starnes there, as we know that's where the Cherokee comes in, can't prove it yet. Mary Levisa Starnes m. Samuel Houston Johnson. Mary L. Starnes b.5/9/1866 d.7/28/1948 Sam b.? d.?1933. Milly, These folks are like a barrell of monkeys...I'm hopefull you might be able to help me pin down my Millard & find his people. The Great Spirit knows trying to unearth ANY records on Johnson & Starnes has been more of a joke on me!!! Thanx for your time & any effort given to the Hood's Bleesed Be! Several things to mention that have been added to the photo sites. Angela Meadows has donated her mothers war ration book from 1945, which is most interesting for those of us who may have never seen one, also she has donated the By-Laws of the Burial Fund for the UMWA Local Union, Briceville, Tennessee in 1934, along with several photos, one of which is a 1928 Briceville Elementary class photo. Joan Davis has also donated to the people pages some of her ancestry photo's, Alvin Davis has donated cemetery photo's for the Miners Circle in Anderson County, and John Chase has donated roughly 150 for the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell County. Many thanks to them for their labors, they are much appreciated. Thanks as always to those of you who come to see them and help with any bit of information. Heritage quest is a service that your local library has access to, you have to ask if they have it, or will get it for you, then you can access it at home if you want. Milly, I had already checked those 3 out. <grin> I sent in an email to the one in Jackson to ask about a password. Maybe they will answer on Monday. The one in Brentwood is free for their county & $45 for other TN residents. Maybe if I am ever in Johnson City, I'll stop by & ask. I think that might be close to where Lori lives, I'm not sure. Thanks! Bobbie ~I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and am happy to be living in today.~ http://www.geocities.com/grannys_world/indexof.html
Bobbie, Where is Johnson City? I've heard of it. You can get a card there and go online Hertiage Quest at home....but you have to go in person to get a card. It is for all Tennesseans. http://www.jcpl.net/index.asp?speed=high&screen=wide&css=yes&print=no§ion= home&page=index Also Jackson TN....The Tennessee Electronic Library is Tennessee's state-wide access to InfoTrac and other reference databases. Please contact the library at 731-425-8600 for password. I'm not sure if you have to be a resident..But it's worth a try<G> http://www.jmcl.tn.org/online%20databases.htm Also Brentwood TN library..you have to have a card http://www.brentwood-tn.org/library/research.html Reference Desk Phone 371-0090 ext. 820 or send your reference question by following this reference@brentwood-tn.org they will give a password. Not sure if there is a charge but you can ask when you call. Milly WARD Piros My mind is like Lightning.....One brilliand flash and Poofffffffffffff It's gone. From: <MPiros1120@aol.com> But I did some research and libraries all across the USA are subscribing. I have been searching today & still can't find a library in TN that will allow all TN residents. I found some that have Heritage Quest available, but only for their county. :-( So if anyone finds one for TN, please post it! :o) Bobbie
I got one at Jonesboro, Craighead Co., Ark Lib while researching there for my relative. They just gave me a pink piece of paper with all of their search site on it. Wendell G.
