    1. Smith/Wilhoite Smith Drug Co., Jellico, TN
    2. Can anyone tell me who the Wilhoite was that owned the Smith Drug Co. in Jellico sometime before WWII, probably through the 1930s. Also, does anyone know who owned it before Mr. Wilhoite? I'm assuming that at some point it was a Smith that owned it, since Jellico had lots of Smiths and it is called Smith Drugs. My grandfather, Peter Franklin Smith, purchased it from Mr. Wilhoite during the war and had it for about ten or so years. Can someone tell me where and how I can find any documents pertaining to the sale and purchase of the business, both in the 1940s and before? I realy would like to trace the prior owners of the store. Thanks! Kristi (Smith) Cox Dayton, OH

    3. The Campbell Co. Courthouse is located in Jacksboro, TN. You would take exit #134 off I-75 (Caryville/La Follette) and follow the road into Jacksboro. I visited there with some TN relatives and the folks are so friendly and helpful. Yes, there is a Campbell Co., TN website. If you go to www.usgenweb.org, that will give you the page that lists all states. Then, you can go to specific counties from the state page. Yes, there were many coal mines in 1900. Recently, there was a listing of coal mine names on either this or the TN list. You might check at Rootsweb through a search to see if you can find this, or maybe someone on this list kept that e-mail. Unfortunately, I didn't.
