Hi...Roberta... A update...had a total of 1 3/4 " of rain...in 24 hrs....in East Texas...a help...it can fall for the next week...as far as I'm concerned.... Before I grab the books...just let me say...what is Sarah's Birth Name...will look for the Long's...but can tell you right off...most the Long's in East Tenn....moved into No. Ga..just so happens...I knew a good family of Long's growing up....a grandmother to a friend.....married a Cook....big home across the street on other corner from my grandparents.... let me look....know they went on down to Dade Co...back into Chatt. , Hamilton Co..Tn...1840 Census ...lists ... Long, Alexander p 70, Alexander Sr. 62, George 69, Isham 55, James 50, Lewis S. 62, Tandy W..70 ....not until 1850 is the whole family listed and state of birth of parents is given...Bryon Sistler...Nashville , Tn.. did these books on all of Tn..in 1850 and 1860...no other state has them....everyone living in house is named...think state of birth after all....but know after parents... Hope you have an 1840 Census Form Ready...to put this stuff on.....if you live in Denver or near there...may have a library with Sistler's Tn. Census there....I bought them...for my little tiny genealogy section I am director of in E. Texas...a necessity...as far as this one is concerned....now here is George Long....page..,.69....they all seem to live pretty close..except James and Isham...00020001/00000001 (they are kind of old...) might not be on 1850 census...but still may be in Bradley Co.... Tax List Owners of Property... 1837 Isaac Long... LOOKIE HERE>>>>>George Long...owns property in 1837 Dist 7....may live near wife's family....question ....George Long 1838 and James Long ...both dist 7....1839 John Long Dist 1 ..,Isaac Long Dist 3 , James Dist 7. don't find George in 1839...bound to be overlooked...these are very rare records...since before Sherman ...walked.....all the way to Savannah...he had mercy when he crossed the Tn..line in to Ga...Catoosa Co...has a lot of my family records...ready to torch it..courthouse too...noticed Masonic Emblem on Second floor...so did not burn ...it ...later found Sherman was a Mason...Bless his Pea Pick'n Heart..... By the way...Barb,..... My Selvidges in Tn...literally a bro against bro....half 4 were yanks in war...other 4 rebels...nice thing is the 4 yanks..said to hell with it at a point and deserted....good boys....Just think...now ....since half of Michigan came to Tx. in mid 80's...we'd win the war now....hehe.....but ....we didn't fight the war over the Slaves anyhow...last sentence ole Bro. Abe...said as signing Am. Proclamation...was " it is with regret that I include this "...heck he had too...the yanks got tired of it...went home...smart boys....I would have too.... Anyhow...that's my report...hope...it helps you....Roberta....but if you loose them again...let me know chances are they crossed Lookout Mtn...and went down and lived in smallest county in Ga...DADE....FACT...I will stand by....got all those books... Also have both Yanks and Rebels serving from Tn...one book has history of Co's and Reg't and others book has listing of names./....Tn...did a very dumb thing...gave all records to the Nat'l Archives....rare times..someone may look for it in N'ville but not much there... Say...got to go to Ga..first weekend of Nov....wedding....would love to show you all how pretty Bradley Co...is .....it's just beautiful in spring and fall... Emily ....have a good one...
