Ivey in East Texas....my dear Bradley Co....became a county about 1836 in fact ...think that is the year...exactly....they do have some tax lists.....there is an 1830 East Tennessee Census...can not remember if it covers Bradley Co...too or not... hold it a minute...can't stand this......this is my most favorite county in this Universe and you know it too....don't you ...Barb ...in Michigan....let me check a book or two...on line...but who the hell cares...right ? Right...no census 1830...was Injuns there...some of mine from SC...I think....she should have been ....now wait another min. let me check your message....well shoot Roberta....what's their name....??????got to have a name to help....got the tax lists ( only owners of property....) but by 1834 think...they were selling the land for a dollar an acre.....My Third Great...even got a Land Grant there in 1842...but he was there about 1837....Roberta gimme me a cotton pick'n name...and where are you....Don't want to give lessons from one Tennessean (transplanted) to another...you should know...will explain... Cleveland had the earlies Post Office...if you want some history in 1836...county seat makes sense...smart Voluteers.... Might as well do two in one... Barb... there is a Enoch Thomas on 1837 tax list...also a Paterson Thomas -1838 Bettes Thomas, 1839 Edward Thomas, 1840 Census...The County's first... Have these Barb....Enoch Thomas census here...01100001/01102001 Now Enoch and wife were OLD....older than me...one more.. Samuel Thomas 11000001/0110001      bet that's a second wife... Alright girls...have besides tax list 1837/38/&39 ......which gave you Barb....Death Noties in paper there...1865-1883 Marriage Notices paper there...1854-1883 that's it.... Remember....Gen....( jack ass yankee -sorry Barb-) Sherman burned the court house smack to the ground...one of his first accomplishments...after using it for a yankee wounded hospital...with citizens there ....being the nurses and care taker...
