SEATON EDGAR TEFFETELLER JAMES C. WALKER JOHN D. WALKER WALTER W. WALKER WILLIAM J. WEAGLEY PERRY J. WEAGLEY The men listed above fought in the Philippine Insurrection [1899-1901] with my grandfather William Thomas Jenkins. They were members of Company H, 47th U.S. Volunteers and September 23, 1999, will mark the 100th anniversary of the start of their journey from Maryville, Tennessee, to Camp Meade, Pennsylvania. By Christmas, 1899, they were in the Philippines. I’m writing a biography of Tom Jenkins and I’m trying to find as much information as possible about his two years in the Army. Maybe the boys from Blount County could help me. I already have copies of the Maryville Times from 1898 through 1902. Lt Goddard was the editor of the Times and was a frequent contributor to the newspaper while overseas. His descriptions of the Company’s two year journey are priceless. Did your ancestor keep a diary? Did he write letters home? Is there a story about Grandpa and the Philippines that is part of your oral family history? E-mail me and let’s talk. I really appreciate any help I can get. Thank you Jack Jay Jenkins
