MERRY1 WEBB was born 1697 in Lunenburg County, Virginia, and died in Henry County, Virginia. He married ELIZABETH ANN MARTIN, daughter of MARTIN MARTIN. She was born August 09, 1708, and died Bef. March 08, 1805 in Henry County, Virginia. Notes for MERRY WEBB: Halifax County was formed in 1752 from Lunenburg County, and included the present Virginia Counties of Pittsylvania, Henry, Franklin, and Patrick. The area where Merry lived was south of Blackwater Creek and Roanoke-Stanton River, west of Tewahoomony Creek (now Aaron's Creek, which divides Mecklenburg and Halifax counties), and extended to the Blue Ridge Mountains. On 19 April 1784 a deed was recorded in Washington County for 400 acres (grant #321) from Martin Webb and wife Judy of Wilkes County, North Carolina to Thomas Dillard, the land recorded as being bounded by Philip Jones, Benjamin Rees and John Webb. James Stuart was attorney for Martin Webb. 1784 Martin Webb of Wilkes County, North Carolina sold 100 acres (grant #91) to Edmond Sams, witnessed by Robert Love, John Sawyer and Merry Webb. iv. Notes for MERRY WEBB III: 1784 Merry Webb is a witness to a land transaction in Washington County, North Carolina with Martin Webb of Wilkes County, North Carolina viii. JOHN WEBB. Notes for JOHN WEBB: John never married. 1779 John Webb is mentioned in Washington County, North Carolina records in November 1779 when a Cavit suit was brought against William Cobb. In November 1782 John Webb was named to a group to review the road from Colonel Dillard's to James Stuart's. On 5 February 1783, John Webb was on a committee to mark off a road from Colonel Dillard's to Colonel Robertson's. Also on this committee was Edmond Sams and Samuel Culbertson. Johm Webb is a witness to the will of Thomas Dillard on 13 may 1784 in Washington County (later Tennessee). Recorded will book 1, page 15. . Generation No. 2 2. MARTHA2 WEBB (MERRY1) She married THOMAS DILLARD, son of THOMAS DILLARD and LUCY WISE. He was born 1723, and died Abt. 1783. Notes for THOMAS DILLARD: He was one of the first Commissioners For Peace (1767) for Pittsylvania; was a Vestryman for Camden Parish; was a Lt. Col. in the militia. He was commander of the company of Minutemen who marched (1776) on Gwynn's Issland and assisted in driving off Lord Dunmore. In 1778, he commanded a company in the Illinois Expedition. Later moved to NC and TN. Children of MARTHA WEBB and THOMAS DILLARD are: i. BENJAMIN3 DILLARD. ii. THOMAS J. DILLARD, m. DORCAS LOVE.
