    1. [TNBlount] Pension file of Lynch D. Webb, part 2 re: William A. Caughron
    2. STATE OF TENNESSEE COUNTY OF BLOUNT In the matter of pension claim co. 612771 of Sarah Webb widow of Linch Webb of Co. B 2d Regt Tenn Cav Vols. Personally came before me, a Clerk of a Court in and for said County and State, William A. Caughran aged 50 years, whose postoffice address is Rockford, County of Blount, State of Tenn well known to me be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case, as follows: "I was well acquainted with the soldier Linch Webb, knew him prior to his enlistment in the service. I was a private of Co. "D" 2d Regt Tenn Cav. Yes I well remember the fact of F. M. Webb the son of the soldier and myself going from this County to the Regiment there in Wills Valley State of Alabama together, and I enlisted in Co. "D" on the first day of August, 1863. This is the date shown on my discharge, and at the time I enlisted F. M. Webb took the place of his father Linch Webb in the Company and Linch Webb came home and his son F. M. Webb served in his place answering to his name. These facts are from my own personal knowledge from going to the regiment together and from our subsequent service in the same regiment. I have no interest in the claim for pension and I am not concerned in its prosecution. This testimony was all written in my presence and only from my oral statements here made in the Court House in Maryville Tenn on the 21st day of Sept, 1895. Made to W. C. Chumlea, and reduced to writing by him and in making the same I did not use and was not aided or prompted thereto by any written or printed statement or recital prepared or dictated by any other person." (signed) William A. Caughron Sworn to and Subscribed before me this day by the above named Affiant; and I certify that I read said affidavit to said Affiant and acquainted him with its contents before he executed the same. I further certify that I am in nowise interested in this case, nor am I concerned in its prosecution, and that said Affiant is personally known to me, that he is a creditable person and so reputed in the community in which he resides. Witness my hand and official seal, this 26th day of September, 1895. J. C. Stanfield, Clerk Circuit Court (This was filed at the pension office on Jan. 24, 1896.)
