Chap. 32, Section 16. --Whenever any person shall die in the city or suburbs of Knoxville, it shall be the duty of the attending physician, or the coroner as the case may be, to furnish within thirty hours after the death, to the undertaker or other person applying for a certificate setting forth as far as can be ascertained, the usual information required in death certificates to be kept and issued by the Secretary of the Board of Health upon application. In case of a death without any attending physician, or coroner, or where the attending physician neglects or refuses to furnish the certificate, then the Secretary of the Board of Health, or in his absence or inability, some one of the Sanitary Committee must cause the certificate to be filled out and furnished the applicant. Upon presentation of the death certificate to the Secretary of the Board of Health, he shall issue to the applicant a burial permit. Blank certificates to be obtained from the Board of Health.
