Greetings: Samuel E. "Lige" HATCHER, Nancy J. HATCHER, and Sam A. GODFREY were neighbors and close friends of the James Clark CHANDLER (my great grandfather) family in Blount Co. TN near the end of the 19th century. James Clark died in 1899, and his wife Cassandra Gertrude (Orr) CHANDLER took the family to north central Texas the next year. About the same time, these HATCHERs and GODFREYs removed to Tarrant Co TX. Somewhere along the line Nancy and Sam married. While looking for some CHANDLER graves at the nearby Everman Cemetery, I came across the following markers: HATCHER Lillie Lee 1873-1953 ---------- Father Samuel E. 1866-1952 At Rest ---------- Martha C. 1859-1921 WALKER Orpha L. Jan. 23, 1893 Sept. 25, 1983 ------------- Married June 20, 1911 Together Forever ---------------- Rufus R. Dec. 9, 1890 Mar. 21, 1975 GODFREY Sam A. Mar. 17, 1865 May 4, 1938 ----------- Nancy J. Dec. 6, 1867 Feb. 24, 1940 GODFREY Herbert R. Dec. 5, 1893 May 2, 1960 ----------- Bessie J. June 1, 1894 Apr. 2, 1976 Orpha L. "Orphie" was the daughter of Lige HATCHER, and was a childhood playmate of my great aunt Eliza Ann CHANDLER McKnight in the Chandler Station area of Blount Co TN. Based upon very little research, I believe Samuel and Nancy to be children of Reuben Hatcher, who was son of Elijah, who was son of William, who was son of Edward.
