I've never thought of that, signatures. That is a good thing to keep in mind. Of course, that only works if they actually have a signature instead of marking with an X. Many of my ancestors were illiterate and signed with an X. You might also check probate records, IF this is the same John Ewing and IF he held onto both properties until his death they both SHOULD be listed.
