I need a lookup for 1880 Blount County, TN. This lookup will be a little challenging as the person I am in search of went under at least 2 different surnames, maybe even 3. It is a difficult task, but I really need help on this one. I have the names of the children who should be listed in her household, and the surnames I need to have looked up. Any help will be appreciated. I know this is asking a for a lot more then some people want to take on. If the census was posted I would look myself, perhaps someone can tell me if it is posted in a place i don't have in my database. Thanks so much
Does anyone have a site that shows Tennessee in the 1800's? Thanks so much, Elizabeth

Someone from another list I'm on has put together a perpetual calendar that can be printed. It is a great thing to have to look up what day of the week a date was on when dealing with obits, birth announcements and such. It is a PDF file which means you have to have Adobe Acobat Reader installed on your computer to open and print it. The reader is a free program and can be downloaded from: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/cdrom40.html The perpetual calendar can be found at: http://web.wt.net/~charlieh/ I've been looking for one of these for a long time. They use to be printed in some phone books and on the backs of some calendars, but I hadn't been able to locate one. This one prints out in 15 pages, 14 calendars and an index to the years and is much easier to read than those itty bitty ones mentioned above. Hester Janisch
I would like to find out if J. J. Walker was a Postmaster in Blount County in the year 1842, can anyone help me on this. Dee Lansford

I am researching Gardner Tucker who married Frances Hensley about 1820 in Sullivan Co. TN. Then they moved to Knox Co and then to Blount Co. TN. They had several children, one of which was my great grandfather, John D. Tucker who married Sarah Jane Orr in 1868. Would like to hear from anyone who is researching the names, Tucker, Hensley, and Orr in Blount County. I have alot of information to share and would be happy to share with the descendants of any of these people. Hope everyone is having a very Merry Christmas, Just a quick note to let you know that there have been an ISP change for the main TNGenWeb page as well as a number of the county pages, including Blount County. The main TNGenWeb page is now at: http://www.tngennet.org/ while Blount County can be found at: http://www.tngennet.org/blount/ The ISP that formerly hosted the affected pages found that it was no longer feasible to continue hosting our sites and we were forced to relocate. I apologize to those who have been visiting the old URL and finding nothing there, I was expecting that we would be extended the courtesy of a redirecting page to the new URL. I was wrong. Hopefully that will be the last time this century that I err. I also wish to aplogize for the lack of updates or changes to the Blount County site recently. A change of employment has left me little time to spend on anything but getting up to speed at my new job. Hopefully I will be able to get back up to speed real soon and make the long overdue additions that some of you have suggested. Finally, please note that my e-mail address will be changing from stockton@millennianet.com to cstockto@san.rr.com for any comments or suggestions related to the site. Again, to all a very Merry Christmas and the happiest New Year. Cecil Stockton Blount County TNGenWeb Page
Seeking information on James Anderson and Christopher Columbus Anderson. I have been told that Christopher Columbus Anderson appears on the Blount County TN 1850 Cenus with James Anderson. I have tried to located this cenus wanting to find out the birth place listed for C.C. Anderson. The information I have on the cenus is as follows: District 1, page 6, #47-48 Christopher Columbus Anderson is my great grand father. I have been searching for YEARS to find out who his parents/siblings are. Can anyone help me? Thank you Mary Smithey MARY@tca.net
Does anyone know what information one can expect to find on a marriage document from Blount County? Would i find the name of the parents? Both parties appear to be over age 21. My one experience, with the Kentucky Historical Society gave the name of the father of my GG Grandmother as she was underage and he gave consent. I was told, normally in that time(1819) there was usually nothing more than that appearing in the indexed marriage books. So that was a rewarding experience. I am searching for the parents of: William King FARMER and Rebecca WILSON, who wed in Blount County 2jan1818. There is conflicting family opinion as to which brother was the father of William King FARMER. Both were sons of Joseph FARMER & Mary HENBY. The brother options: John FARMER b. abt 1757, Nc., d. 6jun1850 Tn., wed to Elizabeth PHILLIPS. Or Nathan FARMER b. 13feb1768 Nc., d. 24apr1849, Tn. wed to Mary Elizabeth GARNER. Thanks Cousins, and Season Greetings to ALL! Jim Adams Montanan2@att.net
I usually do not respond to harshness and such when it doesn't change any outcomes of data, but when it comes to information like this, I agree with Vickie. We do need to be aware of it, but we should not state it in a way that it's attacking that person for doing this, but rather than the information she is submitting to many people is a breach of copyright and should not be used as reference material from her but rather the original source in which it originated from! Thank you for alerting me to this false information none the less! I will note it as a source to avoid! Normally I would agree with you totally. However, if someone is doing something unethical like harvesting info from other websites or lists without permission I think it is something we should all be aware of so we can decide how much, if anything, we will share with that person. I am not taking sides here, I don't know the person who is supposedly doing this. But I am aware of the possibility of a problem now, and I think that is a good thing. Unfortunately, genealogy is not always sweetness and light. Vickie Elam White
> Merry Christmas everyone, I've been asked to remind everyone that this is supposed to be a friendly list and to keep it friendly. If the negative comments continued today I would have stepped in anyway. Questions or comments that MIGHT be considered critical should be made privately to the sender of the message -- not publicly to the list. In fact, over the next week or so I'll figure out how to add my email address to the bottom of each of the messages so that even complaints about the mailing list can be sent to me personally instead of to the list as a whole.
