    3. Hi, one of my McCulley's, Myra M married William R Yearout on 5/22/1856 in Blount co. Had a son named Lowery, and a daughter Martha, who died single. Then a Bessie B Yearout married Charles Wallace McCulley on 8/2/1909 in Okla.they then went to Colorado. Have not done much on the Yearout's ,having enough trouble with my McCulleys. If these names fit ,I'll see what i can find. Seems like the Yearouts,Frows, Delzells Orr and McCulleys did quite a bit of marrying into each others families. Good luck, how many brick walls have you hit yet? I've got 3 i just can't seem to go thru, over or under ! You know what that's like. Jean

    3. We were recently in Blount County doing some research on my husband's family. We are only able to get back to his Great Grandfather but cannot find any information on him other than his date of marriage, and would appreciate any information anyone has on him or his wife. His name is WESLEY ANDREW CLARK married SARAH ELIZABETH MILLSAPS April 4, 1880 married by JP Harrison in Blount Cty Tn. SARAH was born Sept. 6th 1858 Died Feb. 24th 1941 she was buried at Big Springs Presbyterian Cemetary along with her son WILLIAM C. CLARK b. Jan.2,1881 and his wife ADDIE KINSER b. Nov. 11, 1883 We did not find a grave for WESLEY ANDREW CLARK nor any mention of him in the census records in the blount county library. He was known as "ANDY" instead of WESLEY if that helps anyone. WESLEY AND SARAH had children JOHN, WILLIAM, AND OLA HENRY CLARK. If anyone has any information or questions, please contact me. Thank you C. Clark Cmclark@wilkes.net

    1. Yearout
    2. Looking for links to the Yearout name. Especially looking for an edna Yearout, b. abt. 1870. She was supposedly married 3 times. Once to a Stinnett and possibly a Williams. I have access to a picture of her wearing a riding habit. Wondering if there was a place where Yearouts perhaps raised horses.

Shirley, Send an e-mail to RLee@mail.state.tn.us (Tennessee State Archives & Library), giving him what information you know about your gggf. He will check the TN Civil War index to see if he is there. If he is, you can send a snail mail request to get copies of his records. Best regards, Vearl Bible Maryville, TN

    3. Shirley, Start with "Tennesseans in the Civil War", a 2-volume work that lists the TN soldiers. I don't know how complete it is on the Confederate side, but I understand the Union side is great. It's a quick way to check, then the next step would be to fill out a form 80 from the National Archives with the information you know about your ancestor. If they find something they will tell you, and it will cost $10 for a portion of the file. If they don't find what you want, it doesn't cost anything. 3. Greetings, If someone has access to the 1840 Blount Co., TN census, would that person be willing to do a lookup in it? I am seeking the listing for NANCY MAYFIELD who appears in that census on p. 097--according to an index of that particular census. I would much appreciate it--if this lookup were convenient for someone. Thank you. Doug Showalter Rev. 3. Greetings, I am looking for information on the ancestors of JANE HOOPER who married WILLIAM DAVIS in Blount Co., TN on 25 October 1832, at the Eusebia Presbyterian Church. Jane was born abt 1800--[possibly] in Iredell Co., NC, and possibly was the daughter of JAMES HOOPER and [Elvira/Caroline/Martha??]. Jane died 14 Aug 1875 in Knox Co., TN. William and Jane Davis had the following children: --JOHN HARVEY DAVIS [b: 31 July 1831, Blount Co., TN] --WILSON N. DAVIS [b: 27 Jun 1833, Blount Co., TN] --CAROLINE DAVIS [b: abt 1838, Blount Co., TN] --MARTHA A. DAVIS [b: 18 Nov 1839, Blount Co., TN] --WILLIAM FRANKLIN DAVIS [b: abt 1842, Blount Co., TN] --HIRAM DAVIS [b: abt 1845 in Blount Co., TN]. --ISABELLA ELMIRA DAVIS [b: 26 Sep 1847, Blount Co., TN] --GLASCO C. DAVIS [b: 1850, Blount Co., TN] --DANIEL T. DAVIS [b: 29 May 1853, Blount Co., TN] [See my web site page, URL listed below, for more information on the above Davis family.] The 1830 Blount Co., TN census shows: JAMES HOOPER SR. [b: 1770-1780] JAMES HOOPER JR. [b: 1800-1810] MOSES HOOPER [b: 1790-1800] There are no Hoopers in the 1810 and 1840 censuses of Blount Co. [The 1820 census may be lost?] ---------------- One researcher believes that James Hooper Sr. may have come from Iredell Co., NC. The 1800 census in Iredell Co., NC shows: ELIJAH HOOPER [b: before 1755] JAMES HOOPER [b: 1755-1774] JOHN HOOPER [b: 1755-1774] JOHN HOOPER [b: 1755-1774] [same person shown twice in the transcription?] The 1810 census in Iredell Co., NC shows: CHARLES HOOPER JAMES HOOPER JAMES HOOPER [same person shown twice in the transcription?] JOHN HOOPER JOHN HOOPER [same person shown twice in the transcription?] The 1820 census in Iredell Co., NC shows: CHARLES HOOPER JASPER HOOPER [could this be a poor transcription of James?] JOHN HOOPER MOSES HOOPER JOHN HOOPER The 1830 census in Iredell Co., NC shows: CHARLES HOOPER JOHN HOOPER WILLIS HOOPER JOHN HOOPER The 1840 census in Iredell Co., NC shows: ADLEY HOOPER JAMES HOOPER All help is appreciate. 1. Pellissippian Journal
    2. Doug and Chris Showalter
    3. Dear Thomas, I didn't mean to tantalize anyone by only providing partial information and witholding the rest. The fact is, I have no dates for the wills I listed, just those names. I don't really know what the "Pellissippian Journal" is. I found the name at the Ancestry.Com web site, as a source for Blount Co., TN wills. It noted that a library in Cincinnati, OH had copies of that journal. My brother is a minister in Ohio. On a trip to that area, he went down and looked at them, and sent me the information that I included in the email you saw. I think my brother said that journal was relatively simple. Another source has led me to wonder if that journal is from some local genealogical group in TN. Perhaps it is even from Blount Co. itself. That's all I know. Sorry I can't tell you more. Perhaps a web search would turn up more information on it. If I find out more from my brother, I will post it here. Good luck, Doug Showalter Rev.
