He was b. in about 1806 in North Carolina. He is said to have married Rachael Matlock in Tennessee. I have heard both Hickman County and Benton County. They are said to have had a son, Ashburn Jr. There must have been a divorce, because in 1850 Ashburn is in Texas with a George A. born about 1830 when Ashburn Jr. would have been born. Rachael is said to have remarried a Michael Frye. Ashburn remarried as well. He married a Hetta or Hester something, either in Tennessee or in Mississippi. I have checked with the census for 1840 and Rachael Matlock and Michael Frye do not have Ashburn Jr. I am a descendant of Ashburn Davis and will gladly share the part of his life that I know of in Texas. My great grandfather William Y. D. Davis, Ashburn's son, was born in Mississippi in Jan 1835. He died in Texas in 1900. Any and all information would be appreciated. Surely I am not the only one searching for this family.
